ABOUT ME

I've been in the books for the last couple years studying medicine. I'm fascinated with how mental illness can be both a curse and a blessing. For example, the DSM-IV criteria for Bipolar lists a lot of negative aspects of the illness, yet the disease also brings about great heights of creativity, lucidity, and brilliance that great thinkers of our time have had that has brought great contributions to society. I am passionate about the career I am going into, and it's my main focus right now as it takes up a lot of my time.I like to cook with toasters by cooking salmon or other things. I like microwave broccoli. I'm thinking of other ways to prepare meals in 5 minutes. Got any ideas?I like comedies. Big budget animation flicks are a blast! Documentaries give a nice glimpse of reality I haven't seen, and a different way of looking at the world.DVD's/videos are becoming my primary mode of continuing education. I think the wave of the future is through online connectivity. Learning quickly at the format of a Youtube video is really where it's at - learning in 5-minutes Matrix-style - like how to improvise on the piano with Youtube.

We all learned to crawl, walk, and potty train. We all have 24-hours in a day - even the president/prime-minister/ambassador. Remember that you have the same thing! Treasure it. Value it. Use it.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am inspired with what couchsurfing has to offer. It's an opportunity to learn about others, share in the world around us, and develop ourselves. As I see myself grow older with my peers, I start to realize that a strong determinant of who we are is influenced by how we think about the world around us. A greater influence to our "success" is determined on upon how we think, moreso than our intelligence or any fact-driven information. Who we become is influenced strongly from our parents, friends, and social/cultural ties. TV, media, books and things of that nature give us a glimpse into sensationalized lifestyles. But, couchsurfing gives one a perspective that wouldn't otherwise be seen.We are all cruising through life together on one big boat called earth. I'm glad we can experience more of that through the Couchsurfing Project!

I've had the opportunity to assist in C-sections, abdominal surgeries, hand surgeries, and work in a Level I Trauma center. I have had the opportunity to meet a lot of wonderful along the way, and experience much that life has to offer.
