Hoping to travel, experience, and meet new people.

I'm a graduate student doing a PhD in Physics. Born in West Lafayette, grew up in Bombay/Mumbai in India. Moved to Pittsburgh 2 years ago.

I like sports, movies, TV shows, travelling and meeting new people from different countries and backgrounds. If I visit your city, I'd love to hang out with you and visit all the nice spots. If you're busy, no worries: I also enjoy travelling solo ;-)

Conversely, happy to show you all the nice spots around here if you're ever visiting :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

- I'm a fan of travelling, and due to not having friends in different cities, I haven't traveled as much as I'd like recently. I want to change that.

- I like meeting different people from over the world and sharing each other's cultures and experiences with them.

- I have just gotten active on couchsurfing, and so I don't have any references atm. I understand that that could be concern for you if you were thinking of hosting me, but if it helps, I am happy to link you to my facebook profile (or other resources).

Interests

Sports: Football (Soccer- Chelsea supporter, LOVE playing), Cricket (Indian national team, haven't played in a while but up for it), Basketball, Baseball (Pirates), Tennis, Formula 1. Kind of following NFL and NHL as well now. If your sport is not on this list, I'm sure I'll get into it in less than 5 minutes if you explain the rules to me while we're watching it.

I'm not a big fan of running, but I ran my first Half Marathon in Pittsburgh in April, and now want to run Half Marathons in different cities (It's a great way to see all the city's attractions in 2-3 hours!)

Games: Mafia, Avalon, Werewolf etc. : The strategy+mind games kind

Other: Science, TV shows, Movies, Languages, Expert in random things that are completely useless.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: If I hear something nice somewhere, I find the name of that song, and then listen to it on loop until I've destroyed it :P

Movies: Usual Suspects, Inception. Prefer Mystery/Thrillers but watch pretty much everything.

Books: Harry Potter, Inheritance cycle, couple of John Grishams etc. Complete Enid Blyton and Tintin series as a kid.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Played Football in the rain in front of the Eiffel Tower at 3 am with a completely random group of people.

Teach, Learn, Share

As someone who always wants to learn, there's a lot that can go in here. Depends on what you're interested in teaching ;)

I have lots of random useless knowledge. Happy to teach that. I also teach Physics to undergraduates at my university, so we can talk about scientific stuff if you're interested.

I could cook a nice Indian dish for you (hoping it won't go wrong)
