Teach, Learn, Share

My best learnings were not said at the University or at work, there were stated by Howard Zinn. I bring you 14 of them, but you can find infinite more:

1. They asked him, why do you write? And Dickens replied: the reason why i write is to tell the people: you’re not alone.

2. Everything can change. Human action changes whats unchangeable.

3. I’ve learned more from my students than my students learned from me.

4. Little things, when persisting, lead to something bigger happen.

5. Once you’ve made the decision you’re on the right side, you don’t have to think anymore.

6. You don’t see blood, you don’t hear screams, but i suddenly saw what it did.

7. Who controls the past, controls the future, and who controls the present, controls the past.

8. You have to speak louder, more elocuently, more vividly, more passionately, it magnifies the power of your thoughts.

9. After the prison, they would go into the library with so much more enthusiasm and curiosity that didn’t exist before…

10. History gives you enough data so that you can question everything that is already set, and you can measure the claims that have been made by the people and authority against the reality and compare them with similar claims that were made before and see what happened then.

11. If we give up at this point, then we know that nothing good is gonna happen. If we act, then we have, not a certainty, but a possibility. It is an act of faith.

12. Purpose of reading & learning: obligation to create a world where all can do it.

13. Even if you’re trying to achieve an objective which looks very, very far away, simply working for it makes life more interesting and more worthwhile.

14. So, that you don’t have to look for some victory in the future, but the very engagement with other people in a common struggle for something that you all believe in, that is a victory in itself.
