About Me

CURRENT MISSION

As a photographer and human being I'm fascinated by the diversity of people. What are their motivations, on what do they base their choices in life and what is their purpose.

My home base is Amsterdam but the upcoming years I will be working on a photography project in Europe, mainly Eastern Europe. The project is about the longest “border” that existed in Europe, the Iron curtain.

The former communistic countries in the east of Europe have faced a lot of changes since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1989. Countries, which were historically connected to their east, are politically heading more and more westwards. The EU welcomed several of those former communistic countries as new member states in 2004 and 2007. They recently became independent and joined the Schengen Convention.

My purpose for this project is to investigate and photograph the younger generation. I want to understand how they see Europe and how they think the future is going to be. I think this is an important subject because this younger generation is going to be the future of their countries and thereby also the future of Europe.

What I would like to achieve is more solidarity between countries and the different people living in it. Do the people in Estonia see the future of Europe the same as people Bulgaria? Is the population from Poland aware of how the living conditions are in Romania? We all have our own history, languages, norms and values etc. But that doesn’t mean that we are different from each other. The only thing that makes us different from one another is the place we where born and the borders that we created, they divide us. And I think especially in this time it’s very important to get more empathy for fellow human beings. Because if we don’t the history is going to repeats itself.

I'm interest in stories that people have to tell. No matter where they are from, what they do or what there religion is.

ABOUT ME

I'm easy-going and open, and I like to be active and involved with my life. I'm a real people's person. I enjoy meeting a lot of different people because you can learn something from everyone!

PHILOSOPHY

Be postive, be fun, be nice

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Wow.....that's a hard question. I think it's not really about something you have done but who you met. Because if I think about the most amazing thing I have done, I associate it with the people I met.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could teach you how you can use a camera properly ;-)
But more important is to share ideas about life, talk about the future and to really connect with people.
