Hey! I'm Geertje/ Katie.
I'm a travel addict who likes to try out new things, food, hobbies, anything really.
I did my first long solo trip traveling around the world in 2016 ... first stop was the silk road from Iran to China, I crossed Africa and sailed across the Atlantic on a tall ship to the Caribbean.
Now, finally, after a long Covid break I'm back on the road and on CS after working in the US in research.

As a person I would say I'm pretty relaxed and optimistic with lots of enthusiam. Maybe a little crazy from time to time.
I prefer sun to rain, deserts to jungles, democrats to republicans... . I like to chill with a good cup of tea/ coffee or go out and explore. If possible I try to see local art exhibitions or concerts, eat and learn how to cook the local food and explore the outdoors by foot, bike, boat, tent ... .

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on CS to meet with locals and see and share everyday live. Exchange live experiences or just have a good chat/fun.
I started CS at the in Iran and the hospitaliy just blew my mind! Once I'm back home (wherever that might be) I'm excited to share my couch.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Bike through Kenia around Kilimanjaro, diving with manta rays and hammer head sharks. Staying alive all those years....

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share my knowledge about the German culture and teach you how to have no sense of humor. As an astroparticle physicist I can also share some insights about the universe if wanted :-).

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories, cooking recepies, lively discussions, a good laugh. Oh and I also make splendid pancakes for breakfast.
