About Me

ABOUT ME

My formula for living is quite simple. I get up in the morning and I go to bed at night. In between, I try to occupy myself as best I can.

I was born and brought up in a lovely middle class family in Nilambur, Kerala, a beautiful south Indian state. I had a beautiful childhood picking up mangoes, playing in the river, walking bare footed in the mud etc... etc.... :D I am more than lucky to be a part of a very huge family; for me family doesn't complete with my parents and siblings, it's more about my lovely grandparents, dozens of their children who are apparently my aunts and uncles ;), the gifts they showered on me- my wonderful cousins and our cute counterparts-niece and nephews. They are all very naive and innocent, not many of them got the opportunity to travel around or even didn't go to another state ! And that made my decisions and paths standalone from them. Their initial curiosity and worries turned out to be pride and happiness, once they realized I am going in the right direction :)

I did my 14years of schooling in my village and apparently moved to New Delhi for my Bachelor and Master degree. I studied nanotechnology and ended up doing my final thesis in Germany. And there I am continuing my PhD in Lithium ion battery research :D Life always offered me the best things I could get. And I never regret anything because life doesn't comes with instructions about how to handle it ! Every new day is another chance to get things right :) I was not born in a society were they give women considerable right and freedom to shape or choose their life, so it took me a while to get hold on what I really want from my life.... I am still like a confused soul trying to figure out what is my role on this planet and where do I belong to.... After all I try to believe home is were my heart is :)

Only thing I want to make sure is, few years from now if I look back what I was doing in my life, I don't want to be disappointed by the things I didn’t do than by the ones I did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It's either travel around the world or get the world in your house :) And CS helps to have both. I rather prefer to be a traveler than a tourist and living at a place with a local host helps you to explore the place in a perfect way. I love to host people from different parts of the world. I have great interest in traveling and getting introduced to different cultures; enjoy deep conversation with people from various professional and cultural backgrounds.

Interests

Traveling- If I visit better countries, I may learn to improve my own. And if fortune carries me to worse, I may learn to enjoy it. Travel far enough, you meet yourself.

Meeting new people- I love meeting new people, hearing their stories and learning what makes them who they are. And the ideal meeting is once upon a time, only once, unexpectedly, then never again-there you get to know the real self.

Lazy weekends- I am a researcher, it makes life hard sometimes. So after a week of brain storming work sometimes I would like to be a couch potato :)

lil Sports- Yeahhh very little ;) I am not much worried about my shape but it's not a bad idea to do some cycling or running a mile once in a while :)

Reading- I am not a hard core reader. Once it took me three months to finish a book I bought to read during my 12 hours flight from India to Germany :P But I love reading, get involved in that magical world. A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies, said someone :)

Listening Music- Music is how your feelings sounds like. A friend of mine wrote on Facebook "Many people when they hear I am so into music start asking about my favourite bands etc. Of course I tell them but at the same time I am very reserved. For me, music is very personal and to some extend it shows quite well who I am and how I feel. Often the lyrics show parts of my inner self and I might not let everyone to see it" and this exactly explains my bonding with music. It's the reflection of my inner soul.

Cooking and Baking- At the end of a depressing day, I go to a grocery store buy some food and cook a delicious meal. This fills my heart and stomach. No problem lasts after a dinner : D
I am not very used to baking because I started to do that recently. But I love that after a day when nothing is sure, you come home and absolutely know that if you add egg yolks to chocolate and sugar and milk it will get thick. It's such a comfort :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Couch Surfing ;) Incredibly awesome concept :D which gave me the best experience in my life :) It kind of restored my feelings about humanity and nice humans. Yes, they still exists :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

CAUTION!!!!! Guests and hosts, I might sometimes snore a lil bit or talk during the sleep. But I guess you can throw whatever you get in your hands on me or gently touch me so that I stop doing this nonsense :P

I can share my stupid thoughts and stories about my crazy life :)

Once a friend told me 'Oh! you are doing couch surfing. Well, it's FUCK FOR FREE.' And if you are one among those who think so then I am sorry to disappoint you! I only have a good intention of hosting people and traveling around :)
