Sobre mí

Hello everyone!

My girlfriend Alicia and I are two Spanish vets who work in the field of Public Health in the United Kingdom. We have always loved to travel, but due to different reasons (mostly work...) we haven't had the chance to do it in the last few years.

Now that we have finally found a way to go travelling again, we had decided to go on a special leave of 6 months to travel around Asia. Now, due to work reasons, this trip has to be reduced to only a month, and it will only be around Sri Lanka. The bad part is the length has been reduced. The good part is that we are going to be longer in Sri Lanka thatn we had originally planned!! Yeeey. So even after this last minute changes, it can still be said that we are very soon going to start a trip we will always remember!! :D

Our intention is to Couchsurf as much as we can, as we are on a short budget, but even more important, the experiences we both had with Couchsurfing could not have been any better! After this 4 years without using CS, we've felt like we wanted to experience this again. Now the time has finally come!

"Cause they might try to tell you how you can live your life but don't forget it's your right to do whatever you like"

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

Well, we first joined CS when we were studying away in the beautiful city of Kosice in Slovakia. We firstly did it because, as students, any money we could save on accommodation, could be spend on any other much needed expenses.

We soon realized that saving money was only a very small part of the whole Couchsurfing experience. Alicia and I had four amazing experiences with CS. We met people from all around the world. We got to learn from them and their different cultures, and we got to know beautiful hidden places which we would never have found without them. From that moment on, we decided we would keep the hotels to a minimum, and, that we would always surf it it was possible.

Now that we are about to start a trip that will probably change the way we see the world, we definitely want to live similar experiences to those we had already had, but a lot farther in the world! :)

We are so looking forward to meeting you!

Intereses

We love to spend our free time in nature. Last year, we bought a van and since then we have been travelling all around the UK with it. We love the independence that you get driving one of them! You can just choose where to sleep for the night and wake up to amazing and different views every day!

We like going out for dinner and trying new dishes from all over the world. We like to cook and it'd be great if you could show us a dish from your country and maybe we can show you one as well!

Of course we do love travelling! How would we not!? ;)

Música, películas y libros

We love any good music. From Rock music to a good Reggae tune, there is a song for every moment!

With regards to movies... We have a bit different tastes here :P While I (Gerardo) like many different movies, from good comedies, like Woody Allen or Billy Wilder to something different like Tarantino; Alicia likes the quietter ones, romantic comedies and any good movie anyway.

About books, even though we don't have much time to read any more, we have always enjoyed reading. I am actually quite sad that I am not reading as much as I used to. I like any good novel, history books and, of course, the last book I've read and will be reading is the Lonely Planet Guide South East Asia on a shoestring! P

Enseña, aprende, comparte

What can we teach or share with you? Probably a good conversation. We love learning about our destinations and its culture, and most important its PEOPLE.

Can we maybe teach you some Spanish or English while you teach us some useful expressions in your language?

Could we also cook for you in exchange of what you've done for us?

Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones

We can probably offer a good time. Sharing experiences from the places we have been or the people we have met. We want to learn and share time from and with anyone that wants to!

As we said before we could maybe cook for you... We don't consider ourselves great cooks but we sure put effort into it! haha We would then love to share a meal with you and teach you anything you may be interested in.
