About Me

Hola Hi Coucou Tjena Oi Aupa!

My name is Gemma and I'm from Cuba. I recently moved to Bilbao, Euskal Herria after one year living in Sweden.
So far so good. Etxean nago
Very colourful town full of good student vibes.
I studied for a year and a half in Brighton, United Kingdom an awesome multicultural place always part of me. And I go often to visit my friends over there.
I also spend every summer in Palma de Mallorca, Spain which is a beautiful island.

So, whether is in Bilbao, Västerås, Brighton, Mallorca or Havana I will be your host with pleasure. I am always keen to learn from people and have a good time, everyone has a story.
My beloved Cuba is a must-visit country, an authentic experience of traveling back in time, l'ambience est tellement chaleureuse.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing really breaks the tension and fear when you are about to meet and trust people that you don't know. I think that fear shouldn't exist.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Wouldn't classify them as amazing

Just fings!
Being one of the few people that host for free in Cuba even though it's illegal.
I started visiting couchsurfers I hosted in Havana, and I have experienced their cities like a real local. I consider them all my friends for a lifetime.
I always ask everyone how to say Thanks in their language, I love the expression on people's faces when I mutter a single word in their own language.
I think I could have a record of the cheapest flight ever.
11 and a half hours in a plane, Los Angeles-Stockholm 45 euros!!!
Skyscanner at 3 am is the key...learned from the best(my couchsurfer Juliana)

Teach, Learn, Share

Spanish if it's not your native language
Explain the Cuban system which is kinda complicated

What I Can Share with Hosts

Västerås. A walk around town.A bike ride to Björnö Island during summer or ice-skating on the lake all the way there during winter. Fika with friends and a good house party full of drunk Swedes.yuhuu

Brighton: A day wandering around The Lanes, and the beautiful seaside and pier. Grab a coffee or even beer at Marwoods Coffeeshop (coolest vibes in town)
Fridays at the Black Dove
I stayed with two amazing hosts Luke and David my first week in Brighton and they have a bar crawl with incredible deals for cheap drinks in the best bars and venues in town, sounds like a plan?

Mallorca, go partying in Magalluf or Palma Maritimo
Garito on Thursdays
A day in Valldemosa and the exotic Deia, grab a beer in Sa Fonda with some live music.
Honky Tonk
Go to a hidden cala, eat Pamboli or my cooking experiment of the day. I work in La Oca Loca in Port Adriano, a place full of chill people and nice atmosphere.

Havana. All the places I love the most, the culture, a nice meal with my family on Sundays, get lost in crowded Old Havana, a ride in a almendrón Chevrolet from the 50's, Cuban Art Factory without waiting in a long queue(I know the security guard)
1 dollar Mojito at La Catedral
Grab a coffee at the weird and authentic Cafe Fortuna
Trip to Viñales, horse riding next to stunning landscapes and smoking homemade cigars.
Travel to Varadero, no place to stay... hammock on the beach and problem solved!

Bilbao: Gora eusko gudariak! Que bonito
