About Me

We make travel videos of Japan, you can see it here: https://www.instagram.com/japans2ries/ :)

I used to be a scriptwriter/producer for television documentaries and magazine shows about Filipino culture and traditions. I now work as a freelance writer, video editor, and social media manager.

My vitamin is traveling 😅 When I get bored, I search for cheap flights 🤣 or draft itineraries for domestic travels or future travel (specially in Japan). I feel very excited to try new experiences or learn about new places. I am a bit of a detailed person, I research a lot about the places that I want to visit. I tend to overthink when traveling but I want to learn how to travel simply and live in the moment.

By the way, I share this account with my boyfriend/ fiance - Darwin. He is an I.T. specialist/ and wedding or event videographer. He joins me with my adventures and takes good photos of me hihi. For traveling - we are not the kind of "tourist" travelers, instead, we aim to explore and really experience the place by meeting locals and go to off-beaten paths. We also love taking cinematic photos and videos. If you want, we can capture our travel together. :)

PROFILE NOTE: I only experienced hosting once (last April), and we had an amazing experience and I learned a lot from it. But the Japanese surfer (who was my host in Japan before) had problems with leaving reviews for me as his host because of technical issues. He said he left me a reference but until now it doesn't appear on my profile. But anyway, you can check our photos from our trip here in the Philippines. :) And I hope to host other travelers too!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to meet locals, visit untouristy places, and experience their culture. I also want to share our country's rich tradition and beliefs.

Couchsurfing is beautiful, strangers to friends, sharing experiences and culture. Be kind! :)

Interests

I love history and culture. I want to research about stories from the past. I also find it nice to explore the unique cultures of places to truly know their people.

Music, Movies, and Books

I appreciate contents/art that teaches you about life.

Series - Live to 100
Movies - slice of life, Japanese animations, KMovies
Music - OPM, Asian Pop
Books - Tuesdays with Morrie
(I am currently reading "Ikigai" and "I want to Die but I want to Eat Tteokbokki", but I am really not a book person, I am visual person. So I am not done with these yet, but I hope to finish it soon)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Before I tried couchsurfing, I went to Occidental Mindoro (a province here in the Philippines) for work to climb Mt. Iglit. We documented the status of our country's national animal - the TAMARAWS. They are extinct and can be only seen here in Mindoro. Our team climbed and reached the peak of the mountain in 9 hours! Wasn't able to see the tamaraws up close but was able to see them through telescopes. It was super tiring as we went down for another 9 hours, but it was one for the books. Because of that hike (as I was unprepared), I had problems with my knees, it hurts when I tried to hike again. But the experience was one for the books!

Another amazing thing i've done (this time while couchsurfing) was when we went to an onsen in Japan with our host. I do not know what to do, I was very shy! I thought I can cover my body in towel, but no! You have to be fully-naked before you go inside the bath. Luckily, my host is very caring and guided me well, I enjoyed the experience very much that I want to do it again when I go back to Japan, hopefully during winter.
