About Me

Hello, my name is Gene - I am a Korean born Canadian Student studying Environmental Engineering. If I had to sum myself up in one line, I'd say I'm the least Korean Korean you'll ever meet.
I think I'm funnier than I am, probably since I also think I think too much for my own good. I like to appreciate the fine things in life often more than life itself. I suppose I'm a little backwards in some ways.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

More than anything, I'm enamored by the idea of everyone having their own story. In sort of a strange way, I want to at least make a solid effort to hear the stories of people, although I know I can't possibly know everyone's story. I guess I would really appreciate the company more than anything.

Interests

I love to cook. Maybe because I like to eat food, or perhaps because I believe it's an important life skill. Or, because I like to see people enjoy something I've made. On the other hand I like to write short stories which I rarely share with anyone, don't consider it to be a vital skill, though I do enjoy reading.

Music, Movies, and Books

Pulp Fiction. Actually, I love so many movies, but its a stupid question to ask for just one, so this is my default response.
For books, I'll say One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Also a great film. I also enjoyed The Picture of Dorian Gray. For music, I really like Daft Punk and Nujabes (rest in peace).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once ate half a basket of jalapeno peppers raw.

Teach, Learn, Share

When on a student budget, you can order an iced espresso at Starbucks and top it with milk for an iced latte at half the price. Alternatively, you can buy an iced latte.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can tell you a joke. I can cook you a mean risotto. I can offer you a room in Canada if you ever visit. I will share my story.

Austria, Canada, Czech Republic, England, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Portugal, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, United States
