About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To party my way across Europe not taking life too seriously whilst meeting interesting people.
ABOUT ME
Well.
I'm a talkative guy from the great Southern Land. I enjoy regular bouts of drinking, travelling, and generally meeting new people. I'm at my happiest when doing so.
I like to read when given the time (which is rarely), and am pretty interested in history in general, European history in specific. I'm trying to learn German, but getting no where fast. I like to keep abreast of what's going on in the world, and generally pride myself on not taking life too seriously. It's too short, and I've plenty of years to worry about it yet.
I like to think I'm funny, but you can be the judge of that.
PHILOSOPHY
I try to live my life for the moment. If I never do wrong by anyone, no one has any reason to do wrong by me. If I seize my opportunities to travel and experience the new now, I can't regret not doing it in the future. Life is too short, too fragile. So just wander on through it with a smile on your face and good in your heart, and hope that the people you meet live the same.
It's worth a shot, at least.
Life is a journey, and it's not the end result that matters. If music took the same approach, our greatest symphonies would be nothing but a closing note.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've travelled to Canadia (Canada for those non-Americans/intelligent people) and stayed a few nights with a guy who war recommended by a friend. It was couch surfing, just, not through this website. It was great, and I maintain that now we've both joined this site, it still counts.
Interests
History in general, European in specific. Philosophy, currents events and international relations all take my fancy as well (the latter being my degree) as well as sports and the like, cricket and international level football mostly. I'll cheer for Deutschland in the World Cup, because let's face it, Australia isn't going anywhere soon. I also love my music (which is... varied).
I absolutely love casually drinking around with people as well as pubbing and clubbing. I'm at my happiest when I've a beer in my hand

Music, Movies, and Books
Books are a standard fair of Russian literature, classic novels and all that jazz that are mandatory for any self-respecting (ha!) Arts student. I indulge in a guilty pleasure of Tom Clancy books too, I'm not going to lie.
Movies are varied and many. I guess I'd list my favourites as The Shawshank Redemption, Fight Club, Inception, We Were Soldiers, Saving Private Ryan. Pretty standard fair stuff.
And music, is also wide and varied. I won't bother getting in to it.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Well.
I once took part in a surf rescue that saved lives (and helping to rescue two of the girls is still the proudest moment in my life).
I've walked the Kokoda Track, in Papua New Guinea, twice. 9 Days of the most amazing scenery, of a jungle green so vibrant you can't imagine, on top of a scene of historical and national significance. It's just breathtaking, and I can't begin to write it down in this little box.
I helped to build a school in a third world country once, and helped to destroy one in a first world country.
I've some good stories to tell
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm willing to talk to anyone about anything, essentially. And I like to, as well.
I'd love to know about where you're from. How is it different to where I'm from? How is your world unique? Knowing such makes me a better person.
