About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To only do good and to go to sleep every night with a smile on my face.
ABOUT ME
I teach sleep health, do senior & disability care, home and office organization, and freelance marketing and promotional work. My down time is spent enjoying books, cultural events, nature, needlework, writing, swimming, dancing, and books. As a child I dreamed of growing up to be the head librarian at the Library of Congress, spent nights under the covers with a book and a flashlight, and asked for more and more books for every birthday. Second favorite activity...meeting new people.
PHILOSOPHY
Live each day so I go to sleep with a smile on my face. I may not understand why God put certain people on this planet and why they cross my path, but I should learn something from everyone. But if I really don't enjoy them, it is a very big world and I can find a place to hang out that they aren't in.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
At the moment I am in between residences and cannot host until I settle in my own place again. But I am delighted to meet up with members traveling through the area and help in any way I can. Besides making new friends from this site when I travel, I also housesit. Cats and dogs love me and I have experience with farm animals, birds, etc.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Since being introduced to CS in the fall of 2011, I have met the most delightful people of all ages and from all walks of life....from college students to semi-retired seniors....that have inspired me, broadened my life and thinking, and added much joy to my travels. It is like acquiring many, many favorite cousins.
Interests
The list of things I do enjoy is far longer than the list of things I don't enjoy. But my allergy to alcohol limits just how fun some may think I am at parties. However, I do get high on oxygen and life. No day goes by without me reading something new. Be it new scientific discoveries, an ancient classic, or the latest social theory.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books: I Never Promised You a Rose Garden, The Foxfire series, The Bible and The Torah, People of the Lie, anything by Jeffrey Archer, Shakespeare, People of the Book, The Children's Story, all my childhood classics.
Music: Classical, jazz, anything from the 1930's, 40's and 50's, Big Band, Nora Jones, Clay Aiken, Frank Sinatra, Gary Allen, Opera, Celtic, country, cute songs my grandfather wrote after he went blind, Nancy Baker.
Movies: The original Japanese version of "Shall We Dance", Dances with Wolves, Boyton Beach Club, Anne of Green Gables, October Sky, Gone With the Wind.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Changed the course of other people's lives as a social worker and as a congressional caseworker by just caring enough to skip the paperwork and just do what needed to be done. Most amazing thing I've seen...what the human soul looks like as it enters and leaves a body.
Teach, Learn, Share
Was born a natural organizer....it is in my genes. Can take the world's worst mess and make it beautiful in short order. Excellent at money management....my mother always joked that I was the only person she knew that could stretch a nickle into a dollar. Have also coached obese people with 100% success on amazing weight loss...from 350 to under 200 lbs in less than 12 months. I also teach sleep health and can have people with insomnia sleeping through the night within one session.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Always happy to prepare a meal, help with organizational projects, or solve sleep problems.
