About Me
CURRENT MISSION
If you're afraid of it, think about trying it.
ABOUT ME
I am half German half Malaysian-Chinese born in Malaysia, grew up in Taiwan, studied in North Carolina, worked in New York City, and am now living in Spain.
I would say I am a very honest and direct person. I am an easily excitable person and am very passionate. However, I can sometimes be serious and calm, especially when I´m tired.
Sometimes (ummm, ok, maybe an understatement) I can talk a lot (it's ok, we will come up with a signal so that I´ll shut up), but I am also a very good listener. I love sharing stories and especially listening to others so that I can learn. However, I’m not afraid to express my opinion and stand up for myself. I take pleasure in the little things of life and have a tendency to see the positive side of things.
I´m a foodie. I would try anything at least once and plan most of my trips around food. I however do not like truffle oil, chocolate, celery or olives.
I’ll talk to anyone and about anything. I especially love taboo topics, but I am not trying to convince anyone about anything.
I’m a minimalist, conservative, and environmentalist.
PHILOSOPHY
I think we are all one big family and that we should try to respect everyone and learn about things we don't know or don't like. I try to put myself out there and welcome family, friends, and strangers in my life.
Being direct is important to me because I cannot read minds (too bad). I don't like making assumptions, especially negative ones. So if there is any doubt I will ask.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing has changed since I first started. When I started we were supposed to be a community sharing our homes, experiences, ideas, friendship, and cultures. Now couchsurfing almost feel dirty, with inexperienced, uneducated, and selfish individuals just looking to exploit something "free". So that´s why I have been inactive in CS for over a year now.
So let me tell you MY point of view of CS.
1) I´m not on CS to look for a fling or romantic relationship.
2) I couchsurf because I do love a free place to stay, but most of all I have met a lot of interesting and great people whom I now call friends and who have introduced me to things in their city that I probably would never have found on my own. I want to meet people whom I can connect with and build a life long friendship. Or a short term friendship where we enjoy each other´s company and learn a little something more about this world while exchanging stories and laughing.
3) I host because I want to pay forward the kindness I received, but also to meet people and make more friends around the world.
DEAR COUCHSURFERS (PLEASE READ): I will reject copy and paste requests. I also don´t accept people who does not have a profile filled out or a profile picture. And when I mean profile filled out, your profile should reflect who you are and not just one liners (ex. I like to run and hike. I am a funny person.) I generally don´t do last minute requests (less than 3 days). Send me a real request. Give me 2 or 3 reasons why you want to know me. I´m not a free hostel!!
Interests
I love watching TV and movies more than music and I "steal" my music knowledge from others (aka I listen to what others listen to). I try to be healthy and it's important for me to eat healthy and stay active constantly.
I love yoga and have been practicing it for 13 years and am a certified yoga teacher (although I don´t teach)!!
I also love video games (Final Fantasy Tactics) and cartoons (Dragonball Z, Powerpuff Girls, Disney, etc.), but might be a little old school as I don't have much time for both nowadays.
I love love love reading! I would read anything (Jennifer Crusie, Isaac Asimov, Harry Potter series, other not so popular authors), but my favorite genre is romance comedy. I’m currently trying to read a lot of popular Spanish novels, in Spanish of course. If you have any suggestions I will be grateful.
I love tea and have a small collection and two tea pots (one which is full of ladybirds!!). My couchsurfers are welcome to some tea. :)
Obviously I love traveling and want to go everywhere in the world that I haven’t been to. I love being outdoors although I don’t do much to search for it. I love walking and can walk all day long.
I do all kinds of sports from swimming to running (yuck!) to basketball to horseback riding. I LOVE horses and they´re one of my passions.
I´m a massive board game fan and tend to play at least once a week with my friends.
I recently took up swing dancing (lindy hop style) and love it! It would be lots of fun to swing dance in other countries.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I find my every day life to be filled with something incredible. Ask me something and I´ll have a long story. :D
Teach, Learn, Share
I love teaching and sharing with people although not everyone wants to learn. I think that knowledge is power and understanding. Therefore, though I love being proven right, I also love it when I'm proven wrong. Because this means that I just got more educated. But I check almost all my facts, so you better make sure you got yours right! :)
What I Can Share with Hosts
I don’t expect my host to baby me and spend all their time with me, but would love the chance to take you (and your housemate or significant other) out to dinner, for drinks or cook you something. I always try to accommodate my hosts and be considerate for them. I ALWAYS leave my hosts a reference. I would never request to stay with a host unless I feel that I have time to get to know them.
