ABOUT ME
Hey, my name's Gen, I'm an Australian media professional, with a love of travelling. so I'm living on the Sunshine Coast, currently living in London. Very easygoing, but energetic and always keen to see something new and step off the beaten track.
I'm working in communications/Policy in the international development field, which I love, but have plenty of interests outside of work - playing guitar, hiking, discovering good food and wine, good books...
I'm always focussed on the next place to explore, and I think it's always a richer experience to find out how local people live.
PHILOSOPHY
It's the things you don't do that you regret.
Never turn down a high-five.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Not certain if I'll be able to accommodate guests right now, but happy to hang out and show you around a few great places on the London. Would love to hear about your part of the world too.
One of my favourite things is finding out more about cultures completely different to my own - where people are from, their daily life, their passions and importantly their food!
Interests
- Getting outdoors and hiking - I crave this when I've been inside too long!
- Great music.
- Good journalism, or good writing in general.
- Food and wine, and sharing it with friends. I've been trying to learn more about wine, so have a shelf of wine books and an iPhone full of wine podcasts!
- Running - have done a few half-marathons and triathlons.

Music, Movies, and Books
Motown is up there with my favourite music! But really, I'll listen to everything - old school hip hop, Irish trad, acoustic, musicals, RnB...
I'm always reading! Hard to pin down particular favourite books, but the Incredible Lightness of Being was a recent favourite. Bill Bryson is one of my favourite authors.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Rode a mule into a tiny Jordanian village in a valley after meeting and connecting with some fantastic Bedouin friends.
Teach, Learn, Share
I play guitar and sing, and I learnt Khmer while living in Cambodia. Currently slowly attempting to learn Greek!
