About Me

Peace and love : )

Hi, my name is Caleb Gentry Lingow Medina, Im from Mexico even that my name doesnt sound like mexican.
Im an Engineer who decide to quit his job few years ago and started to travell the world, thats why now im on the university of life :)
Im on this journey becouse i fall in love with the sensations that i get while im on the road, meeting new people, being in amazing places, woods, mountains, lake, oceans. Our world in amazing and im getting a surprised every day, maybe sometimes is not the best for me but it is how it is, just we need to see the bright side ;)

I started with CS in 2014, maybe Dec. of 2013. Bse I was planing a trip from Mexico to Panama and go back home, it was a 4 months plan, but since i started in Guatemala i realize that there were more to see, more to learn, more to love, also i met a lot of travellers that came from south america ans they told me about amazing places and fantastic stories. So day by day my 4 months trip, turned in to a 26 months of no return. Just "PURA VIDA" (just life), camping, hitchhicking, staying with locals, or gas stations :) getting to know almost all the countries in central and south america. I make a lot of friends, somo of them turned family to me.

Im not a party boy, since i started running and training for marathons i stopped drinking and smoking. but or sure we can share a beer maybe two, no more than that jejeje :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Well being honest, CS came to me on the very begining of my trip in 2014. So i started to use it becouse i though it was the best way to save some money, but the best way to know a country and how it is living there. I have no regret of usisng CS.
But why using CS... Its easy. Sometimes when i go to hostel or camp by my self, it feels that something is missing and i realize that what it was missing was the vibe of someone who lives theres, not necesarily someone who was born there. People, friends, new souls. Thats what was missing.

Interests

* For few years i use to run a lot, but now in my travels its hard to have a dicipline to keep running marathons (42kms) something that i really loved, no matter how hard it turns. Running brings me peace, clear my mind, so its something that i love to do when i can. Also like some other sports, but im not a very good fan. NBA, NFL, never been in a NHL game, looking forward....
* Music. In my case, travel with out music will be imposible, so thats why now im travelling with an ukulele bse its easy to take it everywhere. I played also some flutes, armonics, banjo, guitar, so we can make a good jam sessions ;) Ah, also you can find some nice music while the band and me were playing in the streets of Monterrey. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GuRTUIUHwU
* Travelling literaly open my mind and i started to meditate, finding answers and knowing my self trough this.

Music, Movies, and Books

If you put some Bachata, i will dance in on my own way, the same with Salsa, or latin music, i love to dance but im not very good following the steps, but i really want to learn to dance in couples.
- Reggae, jazz, blues, folk, rock, oldies from 90s, 00s. older than those; some 60s, 70s, 80s :) My parents teach me about all of this music.
Movies, mmm i dont know if i have a favorite movie but ill go with Lord of the rings jeje. how about a Lord of the rings marathon? :)
Books, the same story like in the movies. The last book i read was "la danza de la realidad" from Alejandro Jodorowski, i like Murakami too, or any book that i can find.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Before travelling
Running 42 kms in 3hrs 39min 50 sec. The intersting part of this, was that i train for 20 weeks to make 3hrs 40 min. So i was 10 seconds better than i expected. :)
During my trips.
Travelled for 16 hrs in a truck who was carring oranges in Peru. I was on the top of all those oranges.
Surf my first wave in Costa Rica, a small one of course.
Climb the Quetrupillan Volcano in Chile
Hitchhike Latin America for 26 months
And a lot of more amazing stories while i was on the road.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach spanish, the mexican spanish ;). Also if you like music i can teach you how to pplay your first song in the ukulelelelele.
Learn... im open to learn from everyone, every day theres soomething new to learn, we just need to open our hearth and be alert.
Share. I want to share moments, have a good time, enjoy life. Smile and be natural

What I Can Share with Hosts

If you like spicy food i can make something special but remember... Never ask a mexican if something is spicy, we will always said that "just a little bit" But nooo! Maybe will be too much for you.
