About Me
Home for me is the tiny village of Arthurs Pass high in the Southern Alps, where we run a bed and breakfast/homestay. I have a cute wee West Highland Terrier called Maggie. Arthurs Pass is on the Te Araroa Trail. I love nature, the outdoors and connecting with people. In my work I advocate for the protection of nature. When I am not working I love to have adventures outdoors - you can see some of them on my Instagram account geoff.keey. I am afraid of heights but love being up high on mountains. I love cooking. In the past my work for Greenpeace and the Antarctic Ocean Alliance has taken me overseas and that’s the main reason I have traveled. I ought to learn to dance one day.

Music, Movies, and Books
Well my music taste is a bit random and changes a lot. Listening to Tiki Taane, Salmonella Dub, Split Enz, Black Seeds, some classical, Daft Punk, Billy Joel, Froder, Bryan Ferry, Cat Empire, Emile Sande, Highasakite. My guilty secrets are cheesy 80s And 90s music, dramatic movie scores and random Scandinavian pop. I don't watch a lot of movies but all time favourites would have to include some Scandinavian movies - Kitchen stories, Children of Nature and the Boss of it all. Love anything Taika Waititi does and like a good drama. I tend to read lots for work...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Went searching for endangered kakapo in some the wildest and most remote locations is Fiordland. This involved being flown into remote locations by helicopter and camping on mountain tops, or by remote lakes above the fiords - we even landed on top of a steep pinnacle. Did we find any kakapo...?
Teach, Learn, Share
I have a good knowledge of New Zealand's outdoors, nature and conservation and am happy to share tips and ideas.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can cook and love to cook, whether its eggs cooked with harissa and spinach, served with rosti for brunch, or self saucing chocolate pudding for dessert. Looking after a home in the mountains means that I am handy around the house. I also have a good knowledge of current affairs.
