PHILOSOPHY

Increasingly I'm a minimalist (pardon the oxymoron). I've managed to divest most of my possessions and am enjoying my newfound detachment from the world of stuff.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

The couch surfing community made a life-changing, six-month road trip around the Western half of the U.S. possible for me. I'm deeply grateful for and inspired by the generosity.

Interests

Psychology and religion, music and literature, cooking (vegan with a soft spot for Asian, esp.), paid and unpaid writing of various kinds, growing edible things, getting lost on/with purpose.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The son of agrarian parents, I grew up on a cattle farm and saw a lot of birth and death by the age of 10. I've also worked on fishing boats on Cape Cod and have seen a lot of deep sea life up-close in their natural habitat. I would add to this list: making a career change at 37 (pretty harrowing).

Teach, Learn, Share

I consider myself fairly well-rounded in practical skills. I can write, cook and grow food, DJ, build simple stuff, and help people navigate difficult circumstances.
