About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To enjoy my first overseas trip ever!
ABOUT ME
I am of Dutch-Canadian descent, and hope one day to spend lots of time in Europe. I love new experiences - trying different foods, learning new languages, traveling (what little I've seen makes me want to see more), meeting people, etc.
PHILOSOPHY
Life's too short to stay in one place. The world is big and (most of the time) beautiful.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Our place is pretty tiny and there is very little privacy, but we're up for having someone for a night or two on our queen size futon. Our mid-term goal is to meet some fellow couchsurfers, and then close up the summer with to a research trip to Sydney, Auckland and Toronto.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I speak fairly fluent French and German, love cooking, eating, playing guitar and piano, singing, hanging out on the beach and meeting sincere people.

Music, Movies, and Books
Geoff
Music: Radiohead, Joy Division, Depeche Mode, New Order, Tori Amos, Tom Waits, Queensryche, Iron Maiden, Pet Shop Boys, Arcade Fire, Guns 'n' Roses, MGMT, and more.
Movies: Anything by David Lynch, Woody Allen, David Cronenberg, Denys Arcand, Fritz Lang and Federico Fellini. James Ivory does historical films very well. Jules et Jim is one of my favorite films of all time. Dark 1980s films (Wall Street, Risky Business and Heathers, say).
Books: A lot of late 19th and early 20th century authors - Thomas Wolfe, F. S. Fitzgerald, Thomas Hardy, Evelyn Waugh, Emile Zola, Hermann Hesse, Thomas Mann. Wolfe's 'Look Homeward Angel' and Hesse's 'Demian' are particular favorites.
