Overview
About Me
"Stay hungry, stay foolish," the wise man said. I plan to do just that.
Grew up in California, just finished a two-year stint in New York, before that Kansas City, before that Ohio, a 7-week road trip and two 2-week road trips in there too...I'm writing even when I'm not. Taking and editing photos constantly. Hoping our next meal will offer us a chance to talk calmly about the experiences in our lives that challenge us. Remember, the way you do what others do their way is what makes you special.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Loving my hosts, and offering to cook/write/photograph for them in any way I can help.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Two weeks in the Pacific Northwest, two weeks from CA to Ohio, two months around the eastern U.S., a random night in Pittsburgh and a loving CS family in Cincinnati. I spread the word about our awesome community of open-minded, free-spirited individuals everywhere I go. There is absolutely no better way to travel.
Interests
Pursuing truth, being surprised, characters, local eats, reading great words in peaceful environments, disappearing with my camera, feeling clean, swimming in rivers, new music, old music.

Music, Movies, and Books
Ah, music. I spent a good 10 years building up my mp3 collection to over 100GB of high-quality, perfectly labeled albums with high-resolution album art. Here you could find lots of classic rock, obscure jazz, electronica, hip-hop...in fact, I'll take a scroll through and call out some names:
Ambulance Ltd, Arcade Fire, Atmosphere, Bonobo, Elliott Smith, Interpol, M. Ward, Metric, Paul Simon, The Shins, Supergrass, Zero 7
Films! Not my strongest department but I do love the art form. Some favorites:
The Shawshank Redemption, American Beauty, Vanilla Sky, Sideways, Memento
Here are the books I brought on my two-month road trip:
On the Road - Jack Kerouac
The Screwtape Letters - C.S. Lewis
The Portable Jung
Letters to a Young Poet - Rainer Maria Rilke
The Portable Walt Whitman
A Confederacy of Dunces - John Kennedy Toole
Reality Hunger - David Shields
Selected Poems and Four Plays - William Butler Yeats
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Waking up with the buffalo in the Badlands of South Dakota, taking a moped 60 through the farmland of Nebraska, wandering through the forests of Grand Teton National Park...but there's also something to be said for a night of random conversations and iPhone photography at a small loud bar in Columbus, Ohio, then wandering to pizza at a shack with Animal House projected against the brick wall across the parking lot, reciting lines with fellow patrons and laughing our heads off.
Teach, Learn, Share
Hmm, I suppose I could teach the science of photography as well as copywriting/editing. And how to create a social media/content strategy for your band/art/company. I'd like to improve my handwriting and drawing.
