Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm hoping to do more and I'm definitely going to host back in my hometown, Vancouver, when I have my own place.

Interests

Print design and people photography, if you want to get specific. I spend a lot of time becoming better at editing video right now and I'm a fair shake with moving images. I pretend I'm good at guitar but that's a fallacy I live with.

I play tennis when I remember to have a racquet in the city I live in and love watching or playing (badly) most sports. I kiteboard, ski and I used to teach sailing, although I just sail myself right now.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like a variety of music, from SoCal Indie to Hip Hop to whatever else. I have no penchant for lyrics. I like non-fiction, things like Malcolm Gladwell, Michael Lewis. I'm an unapologizing addict of long-form journalism. I read a lot of news and too many blogs to keep up with.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Mid air after jumping off a cliff in Dubrovnik was the moment it really hit me that traveling solo is the best way to see the world. There is no way I would have convinced three other human beings to go kayaking that day for too much money.

Standing in the middle of a riot in Vancouver, BC. It's a different sort of "amazing" or "awestruck". It was a moment of clarity, that the world isn't predictable and that even the calmest of nations can do amazingly stupid things.
