About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Saving and scrimping like a junky for my next TRAVEL fix!
ABOUT ME
First thing you'll notice: I talk too much, especially when I'm nervous. I don't know why, I try not to but it's hard. But mostly I'm quite nice and goofy. I can have a good time doing anyting or nothing at all. I LOVE to travel, learn and meet new people. But I'm a terrible correspondant (I'm working on that).
I'm a hobbyist photographer. It's replaced playing music (French horn and piano) as my current passion (requires less daily commitment in my busy working life). I love wine and have taken to beer since moving to NC. I'm a pretty good cook and am trying to practice yoga more regularly - I need some stress relief!
I try to be a good host and an even better guest. Anything you need, just ask and I'll do my best to help you out.
I'm also on Hospitality Club, user name is the same.
PHILOSOPHY
Be inquisitive. Life is only as interesting and engaging as you make it. When you approach things assuming they will be fun and that there will be lessons to learn, there usually are.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Have a couch and spare mattress available to anyone passing through. Or stop and stay a few days, the weather's usually lovely. If you've got a place to stay I'm happy to show you around town, have you over for dinner and swap travel stories. I'd love to hear about where you're from.
I've only stayed a few places so far through another group but look forward to more through CS!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
It all started on long family car trips during childhood summers. Driving from one relative's house to the next. That's a kind of couch surfing, right? Then the dorm rooms of friends, followed by the apartments of friends after graduation. Finally, I found Hospitality Club first and have really enjoyed it. Meeting people for drinks, having people from all over the world stay at my house. Such a cool way to make new friends and learn about different places - not to mention armchair travel when funds are low!

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: local, non-Americanized. I hate that part of globalization: that everything is starting look/sound/taste similar. I liked when things were different. I'd like to find more of them. Especially in music.
Movies & books: I'll share my favorites if you share yours.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
This summer I played with 18 month-old pandas. Normally I don't think that humans should have interaction like that with wild animals, but these pandas are already so dependent on their keepers that they will never be able to be released into the wild. So at least I can have a little fun too?
