About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Currently living in Manchester pondering life and trying to find myself again in this city.

ABOUT ME

Uhhh. Probably that I'm argumentative and stubborn as hell. But I also like to think they'd point out how passionate/caring/loyal I can be, not to mention my diverse range of interests.

PHILOSOPHY

"You Maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!" - George Taylor, Planet Of The Apes

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I attended the Nantes dromedaire meetings regularly, and have also been to a few CS events in Newcastle. I also attended CS events in Rennes when I was able to as well, particularly the weekly meetings on Friday evening.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Very little. ;)

Interests

Bouldering (it's a type of rock climbing), table tennis, tennis, listening to music (mostly rock and metal, but other genres too), finding new music, being obsessed with American, British and French cinema, computers, technology in general, being an audiophile,, reading (especially comic books), writing. I also play (read: try to play) the ukulele and occasionally the guitar.

I also enjoy watching a wide range of sports, particularly football and rugby.

Music, Movies, and Books

Films: Anything really, so long as it's good. Especially American/British/French stuff. Some of my favourites include things such as: Lord Of The Rings, various Star Trek films, anything and everything by the almighty Stanley Kubrick, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Matrix, Inception, Star Wars (yep, even the prequels bar Episode II), Indiana Jones, This Is England, Hot Fuzz, The Departed, Watchmen, Intouchables, 8 Femmes, Amélie, La Haine, Léon and La femme Nikita.

Music: I mostly listen to rock and metal music, but I love bits of everything really. It's really hard for me to cut my favourites down to a manageable list, but here goes: Metallica, Faith No More, Megadeth, Opeth, Mike Patton's various other bands/projects, Dream Theater, Rush, Bob Dylan, Ani Difranco, Joni Mitchell, Stevie Wonder, Arctic Monkeys, DJ Shadow, Kanye West, Jay-Z, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Prince, The Beatles, The Mars Volta, Nine Inch Nails, Tom Waits, Tool and Blur. (See, told you it would be hard. :P)

Books: I wish I had more time for reading, I really do. I mostly read comics/graphic novels these days, but other than that I also read random novels that happen to catch my interest. Previously I've been interested in anything ranging from literary classics to modern stream of consciousness/post-modern stuff. Some of my favourite 'normal' books include: 2001: A Space Odyssey by Arthur C. Clarke, American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis, random Star Wars Expanded Universe stuff, Of Mice And Men by John Steinbeck, Grapes Of Wrath by Steinbeck, 1984 by George Orwell and Animal Farm by George Orwell, the Harry Potter series by JK Rowling, Lord Of The Rings by JRR Tolkien and The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien.

Some of my favourite comics/graphic novels in terms of series and specific stories are: Fables, Batman, Watchmen, Civil War, Seige, X-Men: Age Of Apocalypse, House Of M, Avengers Disassembled, Sandman and Marvel 1602.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm going to cheat and list two:
- Seeing Metallica AKA my favourite band play live. :)
- Having my opinion on human beings in general changed due to meeting incredibly stupid people one minute and then the most amazingly awesome people the next, thus restoring my faith in humanity (at least temporarily).

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach people how to speak English or French, how to get the most out of/look after their computer, some basic-intermediate music theory and some guitar/ukulele playing basics.

Countries I’ve Visited
