Hi! I'm Georgina. I'm from Wellington, New Zealand. I am a little bit nerdy, I love to laugh and I always appreciate a good pun. I am a lover of music, I play two instruments (piano and guitar) and I'll go to a karaoke bar in a heartbeat - even when cold stone sober!

I always enjoy meeting new people from all corners of the globe and exposing my mind to new ideas and experiences. I am a spontaneous person and I am always looking for a new adventure.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have surfed through the United States and Latin America and hosted at my place in Wellington, New Zealand. There were so many amazing and rewarding experiences. I am absolutely addicted to this site because there are so many truly fantastic people on here!

I always find that one's experiences of a place are so much more enriched by staying at the homes of locals and spending time with them, establishing genuine connections and friendship.

In my mind, learning about different peoples, cultures and histories is really what travel should be about - not taking photographs of famous landmarks or buying souvenirs. I feel that to really experience a place in a meaningful way, the best thing that you can do meet and befriend the local people. Couchsurfing is a wonderful way to do that.

I play the guitar and I sing. I am a little shy about playing solo for people. I recently started playing piano after a long hiatus. I have previously been member of two bands (playing guitar), including bands which have played at music festivals, recorded albums and toured New Zealand. I love to dance cuban salsa, bachata and kizomba, a hobby which I am hopelessly addicted to and obsessed with!

I am a "foodie" who enjoys cooking and nice food. One of my favourite places is being in the kitchen, preparing interesting and tasty dishes from all over the world for my friends.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One amazing thing that I have seen in my life is the Hermitage art gallery in St Petersburg. They say that if you were to consider each piece of artwork in isolation, it would take you 9 years to complete. Not only is the sheer expanse of the place mind boggling, but the art is simply beautiful, providing amazing windows into the human condition and the history of continental Europe. A truly unforgettable experience.

I backpacked through Latin America for 10 months - an experience so amazing it's difficult to sum up in a few sentences.
