I spent 8 months hiking the Appalachian Trail. I am usually asked: "Why so long?"
I saw 3 seasons during my travels through the mountains: Summer, Fall, and Winter. Each season offered its own unique qualities.
I met the most loving people who were complete strangers. Strangers that offered up their homes and lives, strangers became friends.
The trail is not about touching the Northern and Southern terminus, or who hiked it the fastest. It is about the people. If you put your head down and rush through it; then I truely feel sorry for that person, because they did not hike the same trail I did.
