About Me

M Happy, friendly, respectful and caring.

From English West Country, just outside of Bristol.

Currently travelling with my girlfriend Holly. We are visiting; Fiji, NZ, Australia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and maybe more! If we have money after we would love to go to China and Japan as well.

When travelling in cities I love going to art galleries, I have a keen interest in contemporary and modern art. I also love design galleries, I studied graphic design and is where my main interest lies but also like finding inspiration all over. Tate Modern, The Hayward and Saatchi are some of my favourite galleries the Stedlijk in Amsterdam is also full of amazing predominantly European design work. I love going to museums and learning something new, especially science museums, my favourite museum so far is the natural history museum in London, but sure I will find rivals during my travels, especially looking forward to Te Papa in NZ.

I also like to try new cuisines and restaurants, Holly is an especially keen foodie, and loves to eat healthy and natural produce. Personally I just love the atmosphere and socialising over dinner. I am so open to trying new foods, there isn't any foods that I won't eat.

When travelling outside of cities we both love Walking/Hiking/Tramping. We aren't exactly expert mountaineers, but love a challenge and have reached a handful of quite big summits.

I am an amateur photographer, mostly I like photographing landscapes and such. When I was student I had access to a wider range of equipment, some of the photos I took then are my favourite.

I am environmentally conscious, (I know that travelling around the world is a bit hypocritical) I think it's important that we all do our part to look after it. I love making things out of thrown out materials. I once made a desk lamp from recycled car parts. When I get my own place I would love to up cycle as much as my own furniture as possible. In my old place when I was a student we free cycled a lot and made the place look great and gave it all away at the end.

I love gardening, me and my dad used to grow a lot of veg together, every year we would have a challenge to see who could grow the biggest marrow. (Me of course). When I am older I would love to grow lots of food, in an allotment, garden, or even just having lots of house plants that bear fruit or herbs and spices if I have to.

I'm not really a fan of TV, I have lived without it for about 5 years now, when I watch it I feel like I'm being bombarded with adverts for products I don't need to buy. But I do love film and I do have a few favourite shows that I love to watch. Such as Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead and more recently Girls...

Although I studied to be a Graphic Designer I have never worked as one. Apart from a few freelance branding and web design jobs. Most recently I have been working as a network analyst, which just means I fix and maintain the Internet. I loved this job, but left it to come travelling. I have a great work ethic and am always happy to help out, so if I stay with you and you need someone to do heavy lifting, painting, gardening, cooking, baby sitting anything at all just ask.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have an extremely eclectic taste in all things really.

Music I listen to goes from death metal to smooth jazz. Generally I don't enjoy mainstream music as much but then again there is plenty that I do like.

I used to live with lots of performing arts and film students so the films I have seen are pretty out there - one of my house mates even made a dark comedy film about auto erotic asphyxiation. I have even watched 'A Serbian Film', which I would not recommend for most to watch, it's so dark. First and foremost though my tastes are around Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and any films that challenge preconceptions or make me question my own philosophies. (if there is anyone's philosophies you question it should be your own). Therefore I also love a good documentary, Netflix actually has some great documentaries, check out No Impact Man.

I am a very slow reader but I do love reading, recently I read Still Alice, and am starting Game of Thrones. I mostly read Non-Fiction though, I recently started Out-Liers by Malcom Gladwell, I really enjoyed The Tipping Point a few years ago and have been meaning to re-read it...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have had my art work selected to be displayed in a local gallery which was pretty awesome. It was nice to see how people react to your work.

I also helped raise an enormous collection of food to donate to the homeless shelter at Xmas time. I also volunteered there on Xmas day.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know tons about computers, feel free to pick my brains if we meet.

Would love to learn a new language, have never really had the knack for it, taught myself some Turkish last year on holiday though and someone thought I was Turkish! :D

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good conversation mostly. I am also happy to help out around the house, I can cook and clean and lift heavy stuff and garden, shopping, anything at all just ask.

I also have a hard drive with around 300Gb and counting of films and TV series with me happy to fill your hard drive up. :)
