About Me

I’ve recently graduated from the University of Cambridge where I studied Geography. I play a lot of sport- football, rugby and cricket mainly, and at university I was President of the Cambridge and Oxford University annual Surf trip. I also play sax in a funk band. I travel as much as possible and am pretty easy to please, I love the outdoors and meeting new people so travelling suits me perfectly! After graduating, I spent four months working on a water sports resort in Greece and am now travelling to South East Asia and Australia until August!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It started with needing to find somewhere to stay in California for a month in order to carry out my research dissertation for my degree. I studied the risk perceptions of climate change among surf communities in San Diego. Having had such an awesome experience, I’m looking to use it during my travels over the next six months in Australia and South East Asia.

Music, Movies, and Books

I play a fair amount of acoustic guitar and funk on my saxophone. My favourite film has to be Ferris Bueller’s Day Off- what a classic. I recently finished reading Brave New World as I love books which make me think and am just about to finish Harry Potter in French to keep up my language skills! But my favourite books ever have to be The Thirty Nine Steps series.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a TEFL qualification for teaching English as a foreign language, having spent 6 weeks in rural China teaching it. I have also taught Economics and Politics in Kenya and can also teach the instruments I play. I have a C1 level qualification in French (working proficiency) but would love to learn more. This year I’ve really got into cooking. I gym daily and can share my knowledge of personal fitness too!
