About Me

I am a laid back and easygoing person. I love to talk and share experiences and ideas. I enjoy being social and having fun but I also enjoy quiet time relaxing with a book or even just meditating. I have a curiosity and interest in many many things. I have two beautiful daughters that I raised as a single father and I'm proud they are both doing well in their lives. I have worked a long time at one company and my vacations have been few and far apart. I have committed myself to change that way of living and so I'm about to embark on a month-long visit to Brasil to begin anew to explore the world I live in.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am new to Couchsurfing and learned of it from my oldest daughter. I traveled internationally in my youth while in navy and I travel throughout the USA visiting friends and family and at times for my work. I always enjoy meeting new people and learning about the history and the culture of the place I'm visiting. While traveling I love to practice my photography. I am on here to reach out to new people and new places to go. I don't want to be a plain tourist wandering lost with a map. I want to connect with people, make new friends and experience the culture of the place I visit.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like most kinds of music, world music, r&b & soul, rock, classical, jazz, pop, rap. My playlists are very diverse but at the core is the music I grew up with, James Brown, Motown, George Clinton and more. In books, I love the of work of Haruki Murakami. I listen to lots of audiobooks, fiction, educational, science fiction...
My favorite movie is Jesus Christ Superstar. I enjoy all kinds of films, especially foreign film because they give me fascinating insights into other cultures.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Raised my daughters from age 8 & 12 to adulthood. They are 26 & 30 now :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I look at life from a positive perspective and I share that with the many people I coach and mentor. I am pursuing certification as a professional and lifestyle coaching and a have a passion to share ideas and experiences with others. I grow when I help others to grow. I have studied massage therapy and strongly believe in the incredible positive power of human touch.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share the wealth of my experiences as a single father, a technician, a manager, a coach, an african-american, a mentor, a grandfather, a therapist, a friend, an independent thinker, and a compassionate soul.
