About Me

My name is George and I'm half Brazilian and Portuguese with an English father! What I look forward the most is to is when is the next time I can pick up my backpack and travel around!! I did a variety of sports when I was a kid (tennis, football, rugby, swimming,...) and always loved nature and animals! I'm passionate in meeting new people and hearing their stories, because there is so much value we can get by them.
And I would love to meet you and your city or town :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To my mind, the way to fully experience a country that you are traveling to and enjoy everything it has to offer is to be immersed in the culture and interact with the people who live there, and what better way is there to do this than with Couchsurfing where you get to be in the house of people of that country/city and experience their daily life and to learn first hand the best places to go ( that sometimes not even the travel guides tell you!)

Music, Movies, and Books

Since I was a small kid and up to this day, "The Lord of the Rings" films were a big deal of my childhood, where my friends and I would play outside pretending we were in Middle Earth exploring and fighting off Orcs in each others garden, streets, next to small woods and rivers. Every year I have marathon of the Trilogy.
Another movie that I easily relate to is "Into The Wild" because represents more or less want I want to do, just pick up my backpack and experience the world, nature and meet new people.
As for my favorite books, I always liked adventure and fantasy style books like Lord of the Rings, Eragon, Name of the Wind.
As for music, I am not picky in this topic, I listen to pretty much all genres, but I tend to prefer music with good instrumentals and make me relax. Artist like Jack Johnson, Dire Straits, Pearl Jam and Bob Marley are a few examples.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I managed to free dive at 7 meters in the sea to get a cool looking sea shell !!
I did the Santiago Pilgrimage 115 km
I hitchhiked around Europe in Feb 2019 for three weeks spending an average 15 euros/day and managed to visit 6 countries.
I biked the whole of the Netherlands with mere city bike ( build for the occasional ride around town) with a 15kg backpack
