ABOUT ME
I've lived in Seattle about 7 years now, minus about 10 months where I mistakenly thought I should move back to Colorado. Seattle is where it's at!
I like showing people around the city and like hosting guests, making new friends, and spending time in the city I love. There's a few places I go where you could probably consider me a regular, but I'm always up for trying new places and new things.
Hiking is one of the best things about Seattle because you can go 15 minutes down the street and find amazing parks or take a short drive and be in the mountains. Whether its just a leisure stroll through the forest, or a more challenging hike, I try to go somewhere new at least every other weekend.
Basically, I'm relatively laid back and casual and not much gets me too riled up. I love to talk politics, but never on a personal level. I think its important to respect the opinions of others and recognize that all opinions have value (even if there opinion is totally whack and completely wrong) :)
More or less I'm a good guy looking forward to meeting some new people from around the world.
PHILOSOPHY
You only live once, so live well, and be kind along the way. The world needs more kindness and people who live as though everyone is a neighbor.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Hosting mostly. I met up with some fantastic couch surfing hosts on a recent trip to Puerto Rico and they truely made the trip amazing. I've also visited a number of the people I have previously hosted in Germany and Austria.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've now hosted about 20 different couchsurfers in my home and it's been a wonderful experience. I recommend couch surfing to anyone who is looking for a way to travel and get the inside scoop wherever they go.

Music, Movies, and Books
Really, I like some of just about every kind of music. But, fy favorite radio show is This American Life. I listen to lots of talk radio and NPR.
I read books mostly about sociology and current events. And I watch all kinds of movies, although I'm not a huge horror movie fan.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Well, travelling anyway, I'd have to say being in Tienamen Square a few years ago. It was the 16th anniversary at the time and it was an interesting place to be. But, everyone there was SOOO friendly. People would stop you just to talk and would basically talk to you as long as you would let them. It was amazing because that kind of thing just doesn't happen in America, and when it does, you have the distinct feeling something is wrong.
Teach, Learn, Share
Honestly, I have lots of friends who have traveled extensively, staying in hostels and with people they met online. Some of them completely alone, which is a foreign concept to me, but one that I wish wasn't so foreign. I'm really hoping the CS experience will push me more in that direction. I think it's an amazing way to see the world and understand the culture... far better than a hotel. (Although I don't think there's anything wrong with hotels either, just expensive, and culturally lacking.)
