About Me

Hello! I'm a comics artist and aspiring radio producer, mostly making work about myself. I'm pretty sure the only way I will ever understand anybody else is by investigating my mind and emotions, plus I have a full-access pass to every dark corner of myself and I doubt anyone else will ever give me that kind of permission. But who knows? Is that what love is?

I also write a lot about my vocal disability, caused by an injury a few years ago. I often need to rest my voice, and occasionally do vocal exercises to keep it from hurting me. If I talk too much or too loudly, it's very painful.

I'm very outgoing and comfortable around most people. I travel when I have a reason to, even if that reason is visiting a friend. I'll keep your space 100% safe -- I work very hard not to belittle or dismiss differences, and to know my privilege in whatever space I find myself. I want to be told when I'm wrong, or when I cross lines.

PHILOSOPHY
I am into people doing what they like and letting other people do what they like. Don't fuck with anybody, don't oppress anybody. Be honest, be vulnerable. Leave it nicer than you found it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'd rather meet people and see a new place through them than see it from the outside.

Interests

People, books, radio, music, art, bodies/sciences, behaviour...this is hard! I'm curious about everything, but I mostly spend my time thinking about those things.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm pretty obsessed with podcasts and radio shows: Invisibilia, Radiolab, Love + Radio, This American Life, The Truth, The Memory Palace, Canadaland, Benjamen Walker's Theory of Everything, 99% Invisible, I could go on, but I won't.

I like movies, but I find it hard to watch anything that's not light-hearted.

As for music, I like a lot of different things! I listen to a lot of local music from Toronto and Montreal, love bands like Buke and Gase, Blink 182, Beyonce, Sleater-Kinney, Nicki Minaj, Swearin', Animal Collective, Fucked Up...you get the idea. Lots of everything.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've made a ridiculous amount of books and events happen, some that I've even forgotten about. They sound like incredible things when friends tell them back to me! I'm pretty amazed by the ways that I affect people when I don't even realize I'm doing it.

Teach, Learn, Share

No idea what this section is for, but I love teaching, learning, and sharing. Yah.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm also a yoga teacher and bicycle mechanic, and I'd be happy to trade my skills for your hospitality! I'm an OK cook, if you're expectations are low.
