Hello and thank you for dropping by. The first thing you need to know is that I live in rural Flanders about 30 minutes East of Mechelen. So if your priority is to experience the city life and night life of Brussels or Antwerp then this may not be the location for you. If you prefer a quiet and calm location with a cosy chat over dinner and the option to see some of the highlights of Brussels, Antwerp and other Belgian medieval cities then this may be the place for you. I have lived in both Brussels and Antwerp so I can show you around the sights. It just takes about an hour or so for getting there.

I travel to meet people as much as to see places. I am Irish living in Belgium with my partner who is Dutch. My career was in training and development working with companies across Europe and globally. I have worked in Ireland, Zambia in Africa, and for 30 plus years in Europe based in Belgium. What I really enjoyed was meeting new people and having a diverse network who challenged me and helped me to learn. We should never stop learning and we learn through and with others as much as on our own. Now I am enjoying the benefits of having completed a successful career and having time to devote to travelling which I really enjoy. Seeing new places and people or revisiting places I have worked but not seen. I also enjoy wine and food and trying to cook new things. I read a lot and I am gay.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

I want to meet some interesting new people. My first experience with couch surfing was staying with a wonderful gentleman in Wiesbaden with whom I had some great conversations. It was for me an eye-opening experience and I would like to repeat it.

Música, películas y libros

Wide ranging. Music from classical to traditional to pop. A bit of everything. Movies I tend to like ones with happy endings. We have enough sad endings and depressing news in real life. Books I like history but now I am reading widely for learning - fiction, autobiographical, authors from different countries who give an insight into places I have never been. Authors who give a deeper insight to places that have been on the news recently or in the past that helps to have a better understanding of the complexities faced there. Just don't ask me the name of the book. I remember the story and the things that struck me.

Algo increíble que he hecho

Visited Victoria Falls when I lived in Zambia. Walking along in front of the falls at a relatively short dstance you get the full sense of the power of nature. Uplifting and for me spiritual. Also seeing Kilimanjaro for the first time was amazing. Sorry that is two.
