About Me

So firstly let me say the moustache is only for Movember...
I am originally from South Africa. I left South Africa in July 2014 to go to Lisbon, Portugal as I have direct Portuguese heritage. I lived in Lisbon working in tourism for a full year and then in September 2015 I moved to the UK. My moves have been driven by football as I am looking at making a professional career out of it and have been playing in England since. I also went on trial to Sweden in the summer but unfortunately did not make the cut.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have lived in West Yorkshire for just over 2 years now and after just moving into my own flat I may start hosting people. Until then I am looking at travelling a bit and hopefully getting hosted because it is a great way to see places and meet amazing people.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am terrible at watching movies (I just have so many other things I'd prefer doing). Books... I love reading and started a book club at my work place. I read both English and Portuguese books regularly and look to complete about 10 or so a year (maybe more with this newly formed booked club now).
Music on the other hand... I'm rarely not listening to music. I don't have one specific genre that I prefer but rather I dabble in a bit of everything.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I left home at the age of 19 to move to a country where I didn't know anyone nor did I speak the language and ended up staying...

Teach, Learn, Share

This is a big one: Guys South Africa is not as bad as the news makes it out to be. Yea it is less safe than Europe/the Western World but come on it isn't some barren crime wasteland. Usually the ignorant views you see from South African emigrants are also that of largely wealthy households (hence why crime happened to them, the poor don't steal from the poor)...

What I Can Share with Hosts

I speak 5 languages (although two of them are still being tweaked) and can help with that. I am also a very clean, hands on kind of person so I can help out around the house with cooking or anything really. I can also be out of your hair if you want some space...

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Italy, Sweden, United Arab Emirates

Countries I’ve Lived In

Portugal, South Africa, United Kingdom
