About Me
CURRENT MISSION
For now: Planning to hitchhiking to the Southern Caucasus, and learning to speak more languages than I have fingers and toes. Even shorter term goal: Drink aquavit.
ABOUT ME
Hello! I'm Gerben Sewuster, 20 years old, and from that swampy and flat country at the North-Sea called the Netherlands. In the text below, I will try to give an outline of myself (not the easiest thing..).
If you'd like me to host you, then I'd like you to read it. (Or don't, I have no way to test ;)
PHILOSOPHY
I dislike travelling, I'm not very open-minded, but what I hate most of all is the idea of meeting strangers. I have no desire to have new experiences, get educated, or travel the world.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've never couchsurfed on a strangers couch before, but I've hosted a bunch of people from all over the world, and I've gotten nothing but friendly people and great stories in return.
Interests
Listening to music, making music, learning languages, currently Icelandic, because my girlfriend is from Iceland, and since I've done a language school in Berlin a while back, keeping up my German. Also, reading (especially books that are about or in a foreign language), watching movies (a lot of them), and going out and coming back when it's really early in the morning.
I also enjoy board games and eating local/traditional food, preferably the weird and maybe even considered disgusting kind of food that every country seems to have.
Something else I'm interested in is history, especially the local history of my hometown, Deventer, a beautiful old Hanseatic city in Overijssel, a province in the eastern part of the Netherlands, and of course Utrecht, where I live now. I'm involved with Utrecht Free Tours, a group of people who (guess what?) give free tours in Utrecht every saturday!

Music, Movies, and Books
I have a subscription to the cinema and I really like watching movies, and I'm an omnivore when it comes to genres. The last movie I've seen at the moment I'm updating this right now is 'Borgman'.
I like Adventure Time.
I also read books, and they are not always textbooks. Currently, since I've read One Hundred Years of Solitude and The House of The Spirits, I've been trying to read more South-American books. But you know, I'm young, and our modern culture is a fast one, so I don't always find the time to read anymore :(
As for music, some of the names that come to mind right are Herbie Hancock, Thelonious Monk, King Krule, Earl Sweatshirt, James Blake, Burial, Mala, Kendrick Lamar and Andy C. I like Icelandic music and, for reasons I cannot disclose, Dutch-spoken gangster-rap
If you would really, really, really like to know exactly what music I listen to for some reason, look me up on spotify or last.fm!(Username: GerbenSewuster).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
