About Me

CURRENT MISSION

striving for internal consistency

ABOUT ME

i've been traveling since january. my heritage is filipino, and spent a good half of that time island hoping the philippines ... then spent a month getting through indo all the way to e.timor... now rounding out indochina

PHILOSOPHY

take routes that look good when plotted on a map

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

i just arrived in siagon today and my sister, who's traveling europe, told me to give this a shot. literally sitting at the bus station and will fill this in more later. you could check out my facebook profile (same name), or my flickr www.flickr.com/photos/gbaron for now ... kinda sick of updating so many profiles if you know what i mean

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

couch surfing is the bomb. when i travel i always look for home-stays. when it comes to hostels i always favour those with communal meals, and honesty books where you're trusted to fill in what you've eaten. they may not be as 'clean' but if i wanted clean i would have moved in with my parents ...

Interests

photography. this year off has been about living out that national geographic dream ... i'm really just ranting now

Music, Movies, and Books

the last three books i read were the "the sorrows of war" and "paradise of the blind" ... both novels set in vietnam where i am at presently... then it was "south of the border, west of the moon" by Haruki Murakami ... i think i need something more lighthearted like the "alchemist". open to suggestion

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

wow there are a lot of questions ... more later.

Teach, Learn, Share

i love teaching, not necessarily good at it, but i enjoy it. in toronto i actually teach first year calc and physics, but i don't think that's so useful on the road ... right now i normally just help people with the manual settings of their cameras.

Countries I’ve Visited

Bahamas, Cambodia, El Salvador, Indonesia, Laos, Mexico, Philippines, Thailand, Viet Nam
