About Me

I love to travel and have been to 48 states, a good chunk of Canada, and China. I enjoy meeting new people and exchanging stories about our lives and experiences. I really love traveling around the US, I think it's something most young Americans take for granted - so many go off and see the rest of the world and never check out their own amazing country.

My most important possession is a beat up Dodge Durango that I care way too much about. Even though it's essentially worthless I recently spent 300+ hours cutting all the neglected rust out of her and carefully welded a good portion of replacement panels back in.

I've traveled cross-country four times now and it can get quite pricey in my Durango. In summer of 2013 I decided to concoct this plan to travel the country purely through the kindness of others to help transport, feed, and house me. In return I'd assist them in any way I could without using money and then also blog about my experiences. I called it Traveling on Kindness. Needless to say, I made it through and had a significantly better experience traveling with nothing than traveling with something. I was able to get to know people and places much more intimately and without having the limitation of money, could do so much more without it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

While Traveling on Kindness I Couchsurfed 5-6 times. My hosts were all awesome and I enjoyed it a lot.

Hoping to soon have people come into my home as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once jumped a Nissan Sentra off a ramp, getting 15 feet of air and traveling 45 feet before landing the jump somewhat (okay, really) roughly.

Teach, Learn, Share

When lumber is steam treated it becomes pliable as if it were still a branch on a tree. You can take straight, solid planks of wood and bend them quite a lot when steamed for an appropriate length of time. White Oak is the most pliable wood.
