About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Life is all about collecting stories...

ABOUT ME

Ahum, how to start a description of yourself? I guess I'm pretty easygoing and fun to be around with.

I love to meet new people and discover new things.

I'm a big fan of books, movies and music, so you can find me on a regular basis in a nice secondhand bookstore, a movie theatre, a record store (nothing beats the sound of vinyl!) or a live venue.

At night, I like to go out for a drink. No fancy nightclubs for me though. An old dive bar with cold beer on tap and a good selection on the jukebox will do for me.

PHILOSOPHY

The universe has been around for 13 billion years and will be around for a very long time. Some 30+ years ago the sperm cell that made me was the winner in a marathon with 50 million other contestants. In less than 100 years I'll be dead...

I feel very lucky to be here for this short time and try to make the most of it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Couchsurfing is a nice way to meet people and to discover new places. I recently bought my own flat in Antwerp and I like to have people coming over and show them the good places in town that aren't mentioned in the guide books...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I stayed with a few very nice people when I was in the USA last year. It were my first CouchSurfing experiences and I enjoyed it a lot! I am definitely going to do it again on my next trip!

Interests

Music, reading and movies. Traveling. Learning new things. Playing records at parties ('Rock the Casbah by The Clash should be mandatory at every party!). Meeting interesting people. Arranging my socks in alphabetical order. Science and history (reading a good non-fiction book is like reading a good fiction book, but with the added bonus that it is actually true, how cool is that!). Committing domestic violence against my drumkit.

Music, Movies, and Books

So much... Cormac McCarthy should get the Nobelprize for literature. 'Here There and Everywhere' by The Beatles. 'Juno' and 'Up in the Air' by Jason Reitman. I'm secretly in love with PJ Harvey. Martin Scorsese's 'Raging Bull'. Old blues records. Every movie with Humphrey Bogart or Lee Marvin. 'The Big Lebowski'. Every book by Michel Houellebecq. 'Cash' by Johnny Cash. The voice of Otis Redding. And many, many more...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lots! Going to Everest Base Camp in Tibet, diving with whale sharks in Mozambique and meeting orang utans in Borneo, paraglide in Colombia and visit the Sun Studios in Memphis, Tennessee. I'm such a lucky bastard!

Teach, Learn, Share

There's nothing better than having a drink and a nice conversation with a group of people you like, so I'm always looking forward to meet new people and to learn new things. Hopefully people feel the same way about me...
