À propos de moi

I'm a recently retired music teacher, cellist, mom, wife here in southern Oregon. I love gardening, camping...I raise a lot of our food on our little city lot...greens, grapes, spinach, lettuce, potatoes, tomatoes, cherries, apples, kales, garlic and more. We have a dog and two sister cats. We live simply and frugally and have fun doing so. My husband is a professional bass player and I am a cellist and yes, we make music together. We have two wonderful kids, one in high school and an adult daughter who works at a non-profit. Life is good!

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

I love to meet new people, live frugally and travel. I've traveled with my Orchestra students over the last 40 years to share music, learn about cultures and open their eyes and hearts to the world. Peeps coming to southern Oregon can experience our little piece of paradise when they stay with us. In late July 2016 I Will be a delegate during the Bernie Convention. The kids (17&26) are coming for part of it too. We want to explore Philly and see the place where so much history has been made.

Centres d'intérêt

Gardening is my therapy. We have taken out our entire lawn and replaced it with gardens of food! We share our harvest with neighbors and local restaurants. We compost like maniacs and are dedicated recyclers. Wait till you see our shed that we are turning into a Studio! We are doing all the work ourselves which is quite a feat considering we have never built more than a chicken Coop before! I did all the roofing myself....We are also musicians. I play cello and my husband is a bassist (full time). We love playing together so if you have an instrument, bring it along or use one of ours.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

I love to read. As a music teacher I had little time for reading. Now I belong to a retired teacher book group. We meet once a month for lunch and trade books. It's the best day of the month for me. I love movies and have many VHS and DVD's. No need to rent a movie when you are here. Just pick one of ours and curl up on the couch. We'll make the popcorn! Music...so many likes. My 17 and my 26 year old have opened my ears to so many great sounds. I love classical music, since I have played in Symphonies since I was a teenager but I have some country artists I like as well as rappers, oldies....just about anything does it for me EXCEPT heavy metal which I have not developed a taste for...

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

HomeBirthed an almost 11 pound baby! Traveled to ECUADOR 3 times, Italy, China, Mexico....many times with just a backpack. Continue to be in love with my husband after 28 years! Well that is the things, but who is counting.

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

I recently retired from being an Orchestra teacher for 37 years. I still find myself teaching music but also other areas are calling to me. Teaching is a way of life for me and IMHO, I am good at it and I definately love teaching. We have a beautiful valley here in Southern Oregon that I'd love to share with you. Crater Lake is nearby, we are surrounded by majestic mountains, the weather is pleasant and there is no humidity! Mt. Ashland is just down the road and you can ski, snowboard, or perhaps see snow for your first time.
