I wear shorts. Also sometimes in winter. Only on rare occasions i wear long pants (motorcycling, snow or ice, cultural differences in countries I visit).

I'm in love with seeing new places and to travel around. I travel by bicycle or motorcycle, sometimes train or car. In 2021 I added a scooter to travel slow, max speed is 25 km/h. I went to the South Coast of England, CS'ed a lot and it was fantastic.

I'm calm, enthusiastic, easy going, i try to avoid crowded places and feel at home in nature and around nice people. I can cook.
I'm not vegan or vegetarian, but I appreciate it and like it.
Drawing is not in my nature, but I do it sometimes and I enjoy it. Ask about it when we meet and i will show my drawings.
I'm not handsome, but very friendly :-). Not an outgoing type... But certainly not boring!

Unfortunately, I have had many difficulties finding a host as a solo, male traveller. So if you recieve my request, please answer, even if I can't come to your house. I try to answer very quickly myself as well. I have a girlfriend, Martine.
We actually do host too!

The social part of Couchsurfing is what I seek here.
To travel Europe and to be a host to fellow travellers.
Meeting people and hearing stories is important to me. While travelling, i'm making memories and friends.

Música, películas y libros

I like reading but I don't do it as often as I would like. I mostly read travel stories, like Lois Pryce, Redmond O'Hanlon, Oisin Hughes, ... Currently reading John Flanagan's series "Rangers apprentice".
Movies: it is difficult to say, but I definitely like Tarantino. Also documentaries about nature, food, ... The big bang theory, the office, black books, ...
Music is even more difficult to say. I like a lot of kinds of music, from Folk and Classic Music, Metal and Rock to Lady Gaga, Pussy Riot, The Stones, Queen and Urbanus.

I learned to make spoons from fresh wood, by hand. No power tools!
Update: I'm getting better slowly!
In 2020 I also started woodturning on a lathe.

2022: making bread from scratch, by hand.

2022: motorcycle roadtrip to Iran and back for 9 weeks. The greatest trip of my life!

2024: trip to Turkey to visit friends but also to learn leathercrafts. What a great way to travel!

I wrote a book (co-author) on isopods (woodlice/pissebedden/cloportes/asseln) in Belgium.

To Poland and back, hitchhiking. And 10 years later again on a motorcycle.

To the mediteranean sea on a bicycle.

To Berlin on a bicycle.

Amazing things I will try to do in the future: Riding to Mongolia on a motorbike. Driving 1500 km to Switserland and back on a 25 km/h scooter (see slowtoswiss.be but it is in Dutch).

I could bring top-of-the-line Belgian chocolate? It's comparable to Swiss, but the Swiss will say theirs is better. :-)
I make speculoos at home and I will bring it!
