My name is Gesine. At the moment, I am travelling through New Zealand as a backpacking wwoofer. With a background in marine and environmental sciences, I enjoy staying outdoors and close to nature. I appreciate a green lifestyle, and I am very engaged when it comes to environmental topics. And I love the ocean! I like to spend time close to the sea and to be active. My favorite water sport has been sea kayaking for some years.

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

I think staying with locals and seeing how they live is the best way of exploring a new place. I love showing people around in Copenhagen, my last recent home in Europe, and I enjoy to show them the hidden treasures off the beaten track. I've met awesome hosts in the past, and I look forward to meeting both hosts and surfers in the future.
At the moment, I would like to explore New Zealand by meeting people and becoming a part of local communities which is why I am couchsurfing. I hope I will meet lovely people and have good moments where we share stories and smiles. I am curious to learn about the culture here and the people of the country.

Interessen

I spend a lot of my time with friends and family, and I am very active in sports. I do biking, kayaking, bouldering and dancing. Within the last year I have been very interested in body awareness, for example as part of the bouldering and dancing, but also as a powerful tool to deal with physicallly and emotionally overwhelming situations.
I enjoy cooking and baking, and also peaceful and silent hours with reading, walks on the beach and time to calm down and recharge.

Since I was a little girl I have played the accordion, and musicality is a major part of my life. Swing and Jazz are amongst my favorite music, but I like many different artists and genres.
I enjoy reading various kind of books. Science Fiction, thrillers, love stories, biographies...

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

I have been catching a massive wave as part of a six man Hawaiian outrigger canoe , and I was almost wetting my pants when we nearly capsized. The steersman got it right in the last second.
