Обо мне
Welcome to our house! We're Japanese and foreigners who is sharing a old large house in Tokyo.
Read our home section before send a request!
We'd like to host people who can get along with us (by drinking all night in the house).
if your request is better than spam (i.e. generic request) we'd like to give you good reply.
if you'd like to rent a cheap room or an apartment in Tokyo, I (Hiro) may be able to help you. please feel free to ask me.
I used to host people everyday, there were many unique people but after CS became to company from non profit many nice people moved to other sites. now CS try to make money by "verification" you can send only 10 messages per a week. why it's limited? Couchsurfing is built on personal connections between members. Sending unpersonalized requests can hurt your chances of finding a host, and annoy hosts who sometimes feel inundated with “spam” requests. But if you pay fee to this company (or host people) you can send message unlimited. Now you can send more spam! oh wait a minute. host doesn't like spam so how can you find free accommodation?
Read host's profile! if you realy want to know more about them, write personalized requests.
if you think CS is free aribnb you don't understan what is couchsurfing! Let your host know that you respect and value their time by writing personalized requests that clearly explain why you want to meet them.Think why host wants to host you by free. if you think host is glad to host "a freeloader", check open request of Tokyo.
How many people are seeking host? why do you think that you have more opportunity to find host than them?
if you're not "solo and young" girl you don't have chance. Be smart!

Классная вещь, которую я сделал(-а)
I lived a one bed room apartment. I offered private room to CSers and I slept a couch on the kitchen because I was traveling to the world in my home.
I've hosted 250 people, 115 groups from more than 50 countries in one year from starting CS host. My guests show me a rustic slice of their life. I dive to their sprit deeply. Each reflection from the mind of them tells of events and memories in the life of them.
"Fukushima" is tabooed in Japan. My philosophy is simple I experience that I don't know therefore I went to there. Fukushima city was safety than I thought. Local people live a normal life include children and foreigners. Then I went to difficult-to-return zones with a very nice CS host Yuta. That area was completely different world. Many unoccupied houses and patrol cars. I didn't see local people, I saw only workers cleaning up radioactive contamination from the Fukushima nuclear disaster. Most shocking things that is numberless bags of radiation contaminated soil. Yuta is local but didn't know this fact. He is medical student so he told me many informations from medical viewpoint. I realized most people are trying to forget this unpleasant truth. I don't want to spend a comfy life by closing my eyes and my ears and ignoring inconvenient truth. This is why I love couchsurfing.
Next year of this travel I went to the dead zone in Fukushima which is higher level radiation area.
Now I'm planning to go to place that is closer to fukushima no 1 nuclear power plant.
Учу, учусь, делюсь опытом и информацией
All about my couchsurfing experience
Чем я могу поделиться с хостами
My couchsurfing experience ( you can read some experience in my references)
my guests are from10 months to 85 yo, from 10 hours to over 2 months, from 1 to more than 10 people, over 80 countries more than 300 people in 2 years.
More than 30 CSers stayed and celebrated New Year together.
I've hosted 5 CSers more than one month.
When I read about couchsurfing on the internet (it was a blog or column)
I thought I can travel to oversea in my house.
I registered CS but no one send me a request because I lived my home town Matuyama city Ehime pref that is countryside. I moved to Tokyo for my job, computer engineer. I rent a one bed room apartment and changed my CS address. Then I got many "generic" requests.
I was very nervous when I had to talk to my first guest in a phone. because it was the first time to talk to a foreigner. I didn't know English, I used google translate and calld her phone. I said"Hello!" she said "Allo? Iro? (Hiro?) Pouvez-vous parler français?" she was a Congolese.
My guests introduced aother CS host, we went to a Karaoke but I don't like to sing, so drink a lot of alcohol. after drink over 4 liter beer I was drunk too much and lost last train therefore I and my guests had to stay this host's house. it was my first surfing experience also this CS host's first experience of hosting CS host.
I went to radioactive contamination area of Fukushima with my host of Fukushima.
My youngest guest was 10 months. his parents "forgot" to tell me that they comet with their baby.
I went to pick up my guest who is deaf.
I tried to speak to her but she said "i aM a daF"
I introduced my self in ASL, she was really surprised!
I got a phone call from a embassy. Embassy officer asked me to host CSers from now.
Because they couldn't get a reply from another CS host then they went to embassy of their country.
I wasn't planning to host them because they didn't reply my message. But of course I had to say "Yes".
I've hosted homeless CSer. When he came to my apartment he used his all money to get a job that can work with Japanese idols. he had only a ticket to go back to his home country. his family refused to help him. they didn't want to get any trouble from him. After he left my apartment He became to a homeless but hobo life was very hard for him, Then he came back and stayed my apartment without my permission, but I didn't kick out him. I gave my pillow and blanket because he was crying.
I got a phone from a police station. I thought my guests lost their way but police officer asked me about me and their relations. Because they had a small knife (possessing any knives on public place that is illegal in Japan) polices came to my apartment.
Then police officers who speak only Japanese exchanged Japanese culture with foreigner who don't speak Japanese in the interrogation room.
Nudist CSer was naked in my house. Unfortunately his wife wasn't.
a CSer who has many good references and Vouches. She was nice but she put her luggage at my apartment and stayed in her friend's place. I asked her move out politely.
My ex-housemate who has alcohol problem tried to make love with a CSer who is very friendly and out-going to everyone. He was drank then and may think she loves him.
She was crying and explained what happened to her. she and her friend were seeking the couch for one month. therefore I'v hosted them over one month. It was her friend's first couch experience.
I got very good CS friend who is Korean Mexican who came from Canada gandraduated American uni and native speaker of Japanese.
He always stays in my house when he came to Tokyo.
But his snoring is crazzy! I can her that sound from 1st floor to 2nd floor.
I'v hosted CSer who came to tokyo for seeking job.
He helped our housekeeping a lot, I was very grateful to him.
Therefore He stayed more than two months. ¡Muchísimas gracias!
Opera singer CSer who is member of mensa, (the social group for person who has over 180 IQ) speaks ten languages was housekeeper of my house.
I'v hosted many CSers everyday in a one bed room apartment but I can host only 5 CSers at the same time. so I rent a five bed rooms house in central Tokyo.
I'v hosted a CSer when moving to the house from the apartment. He was professional of packing because he worked in a moving company before. he helpd me a lot. so after my moving, I took him to a drive.
I waked up by a quarrel of CSers and my neighbor. I went to the entrance. When I opened the door, the CSer said "please don't call police and ambulance!" There was a unconscious girl on the floor, This is why my first Iranian CSer is my 100th guest. it was the first couchsurfing experience of this 100th guest and She is very good CS host now.
We hadn't seen a CSer a few days then I got a phone from a police station. they arrested him. because when a police officer did physical examination him at 3am on the public road. he had a kitchen knife. (again! possessing any knives on public place that is illegal in Japan) police offer him a free accommodation and foods. but he didn't like the Japanese systematic rule. He hanger striked one week and had to go to a hospital then the judiciary unwillingly released him.
I've hosted a very nice girl who loves Japan. now, she comes to Japan every year and stay in my couch. it's an annual event of my house.
