About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learn how to be light on the planet and to give as much as I was given

ABOUT ME

I close my eyes and I breathe, because I know how to do it, it comes easily and naturally in the confusion of circumstances. In the consequentiality of events I exist. My head and the outside, the fusion and the separation.

PHILOSOPHY

I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, It's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope. Which is what I do, And that enables you to laugh at life's realities.
- Dr. Seuss

"Just as the wave cannot exist for itself, but is ever a part of the heaving surface of the ocean, so must I never live my life for life itself, but always in the experience which is going on around me. It is an uncomfortable doctrine which the true ethics [of Reverence for Life] whispers to my ear. You are happy, they say; therefore you are called upon to give much." (Schweitzer 1949)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I host, I am hosted, I'll make bread if you'd like some.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

At the moment I'm mainly hosting because I don't have time to travel, but that will come.

Interests

The world; water; stories and good story-tellers; forests; spirits; vegetables; playing with words, over and over and over again, other people to play with; medicine and healing. I'd like to walk from London to Venice one day.

"...the answers to many of the stated problems are not intellectual, they are deeper. We can read about poverty and study economics, or the negative effects of some World Bank programs on the poor. Yet it will only be through studying ourselves and our role in the world that real transformational change can take place..." (Edward O'Neil)

"...the concept of justice requires more work than that of a charitable act. Charity focuses our attention on the comfortable, familiar domain of the giver, while justice demands that we focus our attention on the unseemly and disturbing world of those on the receiving end. In charity, we can send some surplus supplies abroad, or we can give our time and skills to those in need. But, to arrive at justice, we are required to take a far more arduous journey. We need to understand the needs and desires of the poor as well as the forces that constrain their hopes or very existence. Such understanding does not come easily. Many of the answers to the most pressing questions lie buried deep under common presupposition that we rarely challenge. The very recordings of our society preclude an honest assessment for the majority of us." (Edward O'Neil)

Music, Movies, and Books

It might be that "The clan of the Cave Bear" (read when I was 9) changed my life. And "Le rose di Brod", and Oceano Mare.
Recently, "Sunflower" is great, and so is "Skylark". And "Gaia's garden". The rest is too many.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I swam for 11 hours in a lake one summer; but I think seeing babies being born beats that.
