ABOUT ME

I'm a 23 year old female who has just entered the beautiful world of traveling. I have spent the past 5 months studying abroad in Ankara, Turkey, which allowed me to grow and learn so much about myself and others. After my final year at university, I'm planning taking a couple years off before graduate school, and finding a job that IDEALLY utilizes cognitive science, research, and traveling! I hope to go to grad school somewhere abroad, and now more than ever my thirst for the world and its experience is blooming.

I'm a huge people person, I love learning from others. I also do appreciate down-time though, and don't find myself getting lonely often. It doesn't take a lot to make my happy!

PHILOSOPHY

Seeing the world with the eyes of a child (of course, when appropriate) is probably the most thrilling feeling ever. The world is so beautiful and has so much to offer, and I live my life for experiences and moments of clarity. They're fulfilling instances and when they happen, you'll know it. I long for experience, whether good or bad, that bring me back down to earth. It's a humbling experience and I feel that we as people lose sight of what it is to be humbled. After going around and seeing the world, it's easy to feel that you're on top of everything and can do everything, which is true! But at the same time it's good to be reminded of where you are, brought back down to earth, to remain humble even during moments of grandeur. That's what life is all about. It's filled with beauty, meaning, and unity.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm looking to couch-surf my way through Portugal, Spain, and Morocco for May-June 2012.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've couch-surfed once in my life so far and that was in Konya, Turkey. I couch-surfed with a current flatmate of mine, and we were visiting Konya to visit Mevlana Rumi's tomb and to witness the Whirling Dervish ritual. The best part about the couch-surfing experience was having a traditional Turkish breakfast with our host and his parents, sitting on the floor of their small kitchen, watching Turkish television, and picking up pieces of cheese and olives with our hands and stuffing it in fresh bread. The authenticity of the whole thing was really exciting, and I look forward to couch-surf with others who can provide authentic experiences as well, no matter of what kind!

I've been told numerous times over that my life philosophy, way at looking at the world, and attitude are really infectious and inspiring, and I love sharing that with people.

I am open to learning anything, random bits of information, how to speak phrases in your language or entire philosophical movements, I'm open to anything that will contribute to my repertoire of knowledge I'm down with.
