About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Write, travel, love, surf, read, help, share, and holy crap I need to learn like 12 languages.
ABOUT ME
I enjoy the company of good people, but am solitary by nature. I read and write on a daily basis. I like girls and don't particularly care for guns. I believe in a god, but it's a lowercase god -- perhaps just energy itself is god. I don't believe in strict karma, but I do live my life by karmic principles. I am a nut for technology and a nut for nature, and I don't find this at all hypocritical. Politically I'm somewhere on the left. I'm not very funny, but I try, which results in lots of bad jokes.
PHILOSOPHY
I guess I probably answered this above. My teacher once told me to read all the questions on the test before answering any. I guess I should have listened to her.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Well, I just joined and haven't participated at all yet, except to offer a couch for a weary traveler to surf on.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I actually have yet to couchsurf outside the US, but I look forward to the experience. I've slept on couches at my friends' homes, but that was usually because I passed out there...
Interests
Traveling, reading, writing. I enjoy all sports, especially basketball, surfing, futbol, swimming, the list goes on. I find that a backpack and a good book go a long way in this world.

Music, Movies, and Books
I listen to anything and everything, except country music and metal. I especially love hip hop for its energy and rhythm, but nothing beats a live symphony or orchestra. Timothy Andres is a great contemporary composer that I enjoy, and if you haven't heard Mos Def or The Roots, you don't know what you're missing. On the hardcore political tip, Immortal Technique is the best. My favorite movies are countless, but include Moulin Rouge, City of God, Dogville, I Am Curious, Scarface, and Fawlty Towers, although that's an old British television show rather than a movie. Books are too numerous to mention, but here are a few: Stepmother, by Robert Coover; Dubliners and Portrait of the Artist, by Joyce; Invitation to a Beheading and Lolita, both by Nabokov; Don Quixote; and anything by Dickens, Twain, and Shakespeare. I studied English, sorry -- I can't help but love the classics. Philosophically, I admire Wittgenstein and Chomsky. Especially Chomsky.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I had a dog once that had a nearly fluent ear for English. I didn't train him specially or anything, I think he was just that smart. He understood everything, even long and rather complex sentences. Changed my view of how similar humans and animals really are.
Teach, Learn, Share
Ask or tell me anything about books or politics -- I'm a geek for both, and can converse about them for hours.
