ABOUT ME
I'm Giancarlo, I was born in Rome but I grew up in La Spezia.
I'm not really a big party guy, but I enjoy good company, new people, long chats.
When I was younger I almost never went out of my country (only with school trips), and now I'm trying to take revenge against my no-travelling childhood. So far I've been on five interrail trips, the last four focused on just one country each (Scotland, Poland, Norway, Romania): it's the best way to really breath the soul of a country.
Interests
I work as a director and am very passionate and movies. In fact I'm working on keeping myself from rambling about it on and on...

I love travelling the "hard way", backpack and tent on a lowbudget.
Music and literature, of course...
I love Hiking and am currently trying to climb every peak in the Apuane Alps, beautiful mountains not too far from where I live. I love running and I often play tennis, but I had to accept the fact that I'm never gonna be skilled (I like it anyway)
I'm learning to juggle and I'm learning french.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Walked 100km through tundra in the swedish Lapland
Slept in a windmill in Bialowieza (Poland) in the middle of the last ancient forest in Europe;
Risked hypothermia trying to hitchhike (without success) near Cape North, under the midnight sun, after a 18km hike through tundra toward Knivskjellodden, the real northermost place in Europe;
Entered at sunrise in the Barsana monastery, in Maramures (Romania), while the nuns were chanting for the early morning mass. I was the only visitor there, like an intruder in a forbidden place, one of the most beautiful I've ever been;
Walked several kilometers with a 20kg backpack on my back and blisters under my feet to see a scottish castle on a sunday without busses;
Entered Poienari castle (the real castle of Vlad the Impaler, aka Dracula) at dusk, after closure time: it would have been a pity to miss it in my Romania tour, and a nice stray dog from the place suggested me to crawl under the gate, then kept me company during my illegal visit;
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm learning french, and french conversations would be gold to me.
I really need to learn how to cook. It'll come the day when I starve, and it'll be too late to learn...
