About Me
ABOUT ME
Hi, I grew up on the south side of Chicago, was in Madison WI for a few years, and just moved back to Boston, where I also did my undergrad.
Interested in meeting interesting people, in living vicariously through people who are a little less attached than I am, people who have the ability to drive around and sleep on strangers' couches.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
So far, as a willing, but unutilized, host. Been to some Madison couch-surfing events. I've set a few people up with other hosts when I wasn't able to have them for logistical reasons.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My only actual couch experience: I stayed with a British graduate student for a conference my sister was presenting at in another state
I had a drink in Memphis with someone who was ready to host me until I found out there was actually a paid hotel room that night.
Two girls requested to stay with me once when I was out of town so I sent them to stay with some friends of mine. Then randomly I met one of the people six years later in an entirely different part of the US.
Interests
Words. Lots of trying to understand the world. Reading opinion pieces. Listening to stories. (Telling them sometimes, but only the interesting ones, I hope.) Games with friends. Frisbee. Words.
Also: I have a beautiful accordion.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music:
classical music - romantic era especially.
old-time blues. klezmer. west african. israeli.
I had two radio shows during college.
Books:
Favorite novels - 100 Years of Solitude. Midnight's Children. Shoeless Joe.
Movies/TV: I guess I've watched some sometime but not really that interested. I did enjoy Coupling. And a Friends-like show called "Srugim" about a bunch of religious Jerusalem singles.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
- Pink Martini concert in downtown Chicago in the aftermath of 60 mph winds and tornado warnings. Followed by a rainbow and then fireworks. All in all, an epic first date.
Teach, Learn, Share
Intricacies of biblical Hebrew grammar and traditional cantillation. No kidding.
