Overview
About Me
I am a researcher by day, and a traveler by the holiday 🏃🏽♂️
The name's Randy, and I come originally from Indonesia. Currently I am in Europe for my study and work, based in Greece. To loosen up from my work, I always travel around during the time offs; and during this time I realized that this would be the perfect opportunity to also meet new people, gain more perspective about the world, cultures, and learn more languages.
I would love to hear your rambling about your works, and I would also love to tell all the stories of medical technology from mine! Maybe we can find common grounds ☺️
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My friend introduced me to the CS community, where I met some good and kind people with perspectives on lives entirely different than mine. And it was an eye-opening experience for me, so I decided to join CS and will try to give similar experiences to the people I will meet! ☺️

Music, Movies, and Books
Music:
My friends described my music taste as "the song you listen to to get yourself to sleep". Generally I like indie, R&B, and chill music. Of course, from time to time I listen to pop songs too!
Movies:
I like slice-of-life movies, like the Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012), Booksmart (2019), Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017). I also like Korean and Japanese dramas & films, and some popular animes.
Books:
Before the Coffee Gets Cold (2019) by Toshikazu Kawaguchi, Almond (2020) by Sohn Won-Pyung, What You Are Looking For Is In The Library (2023) by Michiko Aoyama, Things We Lost To The Water (2021) by Eric Nguyen, Lie With Me (2019) by Philippe Besson. Does that give an idea of what kind of books I like?
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
For work-related purpose, I moved to China by myself during the pandemic! Not really an amazing thing, but the hurdles I experienced, with little to no Chinese skill, really shaped me as who I am today.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am a researcher in biomaterials & tissue engineering; basically, I make artificial human organs/tissues from synthetic approaches! It is hard, yes, that's why I always try to find healthy ways to unwind. Apart from traveling, I also like to volunteer in social work, e.g., teaching children, building community, waste cleaning projects. Haven't done that in a while, though.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am an amateur cook, and mostly I cook Asian stir-fried style and soup. I would love to give you the home-cooked meals I learned throughout the years! I will also try my best to be a good company, and to be your friend from the other side of the world. ☺️
As a host, currently I am living with a roommate. We have an empty couch in the living room, if that is okay for you.
