About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live in a constant state of change.

ABOUT ME

I was born. I went to school. I joined the Peace Corps. I am happy now, living in the Philippines and working with communities in dire need of plentiful, clean water here in the Philippines.

PHILOSOPHY

Just be. Nothing is permanent. Attachment is the cause of suffering. On a subatomic level, there is no difference between me, you, a hamburger and the great oceans of earth. Change is good and inevitable.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have an extra double bed, I have a double-wide mattress. I live within 2 hours of the one place in the world where you can swim with whale sharks (the world's largest fish); Donsol, Sorsogon, Philippines. I live in the shadow of the world's most perfect cone volcano (Mt. Mayon). Come over, we will cook dinner and tell stories!

Interests

Cooking. Music. Pirating Music. Listening to pirated music. Playing strategy board games. Amateur photography. Beginner Scuba diving. Saving the world. Riding my bike. Whitewater kayaking, mountain biking, rock climbing, frisbee, hacky-sack. Facebook. Water resource engineering.

Music, Movies, and Books

Waking life. Ishmael. Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. 100 Years of Solitude. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Bloc Party. Reel Big Fish. Atmosphere. Gym Class Heroes. Ugly Duckling. Propellerheads. Basically anything that can't be found in the "popular schlock for the masses" section of a Border's, Blockbuster, or Music Store.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was caught in the most destructive typhoon to hit the Philippines in more than 30 years. I was up to my waist in water as jeeps floated by down the street in front of my house. I climbed the side of a building to get to safety. I saved a 70-year-old woman from potentially getting hypothermia or drowning by carrying her to safety.
