ABOUT ME

Hi!

My name is Gigi, born in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, with roots in Surinam.

I have a interest for many things, but am outspokenly passionate about traveling; the art and practice of exploring boundaries of culture and identities and expanding horizons. I’ve been blessed to travel to many places in this world, and have often combined this with study, work or research (Caribbean, Latin America, Sub-Sahara and East Africa, South Asia, East-Asia and Europe).

I would consider myself to be a very flexible and easy-going person, with an open mind and non-judging personality! Enjoy having conversations, but talking is not a must, silence is also a virtue.

I’m currently starting my career in human rights and development, and spent my spare time making music, dancing, playing Capoeira and yoga, and visiting events. Much more to say but let’s save that for later :)

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Exchange, share, connect and learn. I can only share what I own and receive what is given.

Always happy to spend time with hosts, prepare (traditional Surinamese) food for them, visit local hang-outs, but respect private space and can easily draw plans myself. I’m very clean and flexible and do not easily feel embarrassed: never feel shy or hesitant to ask or say something!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Two: one in Cardiff, Whales. And another one in Cologne! And a lot of informal couchsurfing experiences from people I met abroad.
