Overview
About Me
I'm fascinated by the role of things and technologies in how the world changes. So I study philosophy and design to both grasp and make such things. Now finishing my master thesis in philosophy of technology in Vancouver. From september I'll study at the Design Academy Eindhoven, the 'Dutch capital of design' where I grew up.
I like making photos and videos. Both on trips and to earn some bucks (for trips). I play guitar in Hunting The Robot. (www.huntingtherobot.com)
Comfortably lost. I like the surprise and coincidence of wandering or a long conversation.
Btw my name might be the only exclusively Dutch part of me. At least Holland is where people can pronounce it. So you can call me Dao.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
When I travel I like to visit not countries but people. I'm fascinated by the way cultures mingle in a globalizing world, yet never dissolve. This is most apparent when meeting like-minded from across the globe.
Abroad I gravitate towards artistic sides of towns. Probably both because of their familiarity and since art is a sharp lens to grasp a foreign culture.
Currently I'm saying bye to Vancouver and hi to the US. I'll join my trucker uncle from Seattle to Vegas and visit San Francisco after. First time America!
Once I'll have a steady couch back in Eindhoven I'd love to host creatives, (self-proclaimed) intellectuals and other curious creatures.

I read and watched quite a lot about technology, society, politics. My references are yours.

As a philosophy student I may think of a (more or less) appropriate quote.
