About Me

Hi! My name's Gil and I'm from Ireland. I've loved travelling since the moment I first left my country as a teenager, and can't get enough :) I've travelled around Europe, Asia and a bit of Australia.
I'm currently working as an English Language teacher which I have done for the past few years. I've also worked in a variety of other jobs such as hospitality. I really enjoy meeting new people and seeing new places. I'm a big nature lover and adore animals (also a vegetarian). I enjoy music, dancing, art, food, culture in general and sharing good times with good people :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The reason I love travelling is not only seeing the many wonderful places on earth but also the beautiful and interesting people I meet along the way. It usually is the people that make the experience so special. I'm on couchsurfing, not so much to get a free place to stay, but more so to meet local people, or other expats or travellers and learn about their perspective and experiences, and hopefully share something back with them too! :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Favourite music is too difficult, but my top listened to is usually Red Hot Chilli Peppers or Jack Johnson, or Xavier Rudd!
I'm not a huge movie buff, but I can't say no to Lost in Translation....:)
To Kill a Mockingbird is my comfort read, and I'm still trying to work my way through Shantaram....might take a few years ;)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Urm...where do I start?!
Nah, I guess my travel experiences are some of the most amazing things I've done....I suppose taking a risk by deciding to move to Australia with a schoolbag sized backpack and 200euro in my pocket with no working visa!
